February 21st:

Wake Up! Mobility with EC (done early)
Wake Up! Energised with EC (30 reps)
Morning Stretching with EC (done early)
3-Minute HIIT day 21 (jumping jacks)
Push-Up Streak day 22 (75 incline push-ups in three sets)
Unbound day 22 + day 24 (accidentally)
Mobility Matrix with EC (kept balance)

~20min on treadmill (~2 km) - discounting the warm-up & cool-down walking, I managed to run 2km almost non-stop, with only 1min break in the middle. My left hip hurt right after, but in an hour or so it felt fine. I'm not sure if 5km will be an achievable distance for me, even after a month of training... It definitely isn't achievable right now, not if I want to keep my joints intact. And the decision about participating needs to be made soon, before all the spots are taken... I think I'll train for a week and see how it goes.
Dead hang (10-count)
Incline push-ups (for the push-up streak challenge)
Vertical/standing pull-ups (two sets, 20 reps each)
Back & Biceps Express (with 2.5kg dumbbells)

February 22nd:

Wake Up! Mobility
Wake Up! Energised
Morning Stretching
3-Minute HIIT day 22 (march steps)
Push-Up Streak day 23 (80 incline push-ups in four sets)
Unbound day 23
Exercise of the day (50 back-fists)
Back Pain Relief
Mobility Matrix with EC (kept balance)

15 min manual program on elliptical trainer (6 km) - I got to the gym almost at the closing time and had to cut this short.
Dead hang (10-count)
Incline push-ups (for the push-up streak challenge)
Vertical/standing pull-ups (two sets, 20 reps each)
Back & Biceps Express (with 2.5 kg dumbbells)

February 24th:

Wake Up! Mobility with EC (done early)
Wake Up! Energised with EC (30 reps)
Morning Stretching with EC (done early)
3-Minute HIIT day 24 (march steps)
Push-Up Streak day 25 (80 incline push-ups in four sets)
Unbound day 25
Exercise of the day (50 chest expansions)
Back Pain Relief
Mobility Matrix with EC (kept balance)

10 min manual program on elliptical trainer (4.08 km) - warming up for a short run.
10 min on a treadmill (1.12 km) - the short run in question. I did it HIIT-style: one minute walking or jogging at speed 6, one minute running at speed 8. Got a stitch in my right side by the end, but my joints were just fine; apparently it's running at a sustained pace for a long time that's the problem.
Dead hang (15-count)
Incline push-ups (for the push-up streak challenge)
Vertical/standing pull-ups (two sets, 20 reps each)
Back & Biceps Express (with 2.5 kg dumbbells)

Planning for the next month: Girl Power Week looks interesting, and since the rules say it's ok for others to participate, I think I'll try it out. For the entire month I'm thinking about taking up Soft Cardio program, and maybe Epic Hold challenge - I can't do 60sec holds normally, but apparently there are easier variations. Might also be nice to take on a few easy, quality-of-life challenges like drinking water, giving yourself hugs, walking daily etc. Also, I've been drinking protein shakes for the last two months, and the muscle gain is starting to get noticeable! No negative side-effects so far; I'll buy some creatine as well.

March 2026

Program: Soft Cardio
This one looks like it would really work my arms and shoulders. Thankfully, I've been doing Wake Up! Energised with EC for a while, so I'm somewhat prepared to take this on.
Challenge 1: Epic Hold :accepted:
The easier variations on the holds with some rest time are actually achievable for me, so, you know, why not. Strengthen my legs, strengthen my core... Arms too.

Challenge 2: Upper Body Blast
Cardio and holds are all well and good, but my arms need proper strength training, too. Unsure if I can manage shoulder taps, though... Oh well. If not, I'll just do it in a kneeling plank position instead. That should work, I think.

Challenge 3: Lower Body Blast
Because I need stronger legs. Maybe this will improve my running ability. Also, that makes a themed challenge set! And since this is the girl power month, I went for the girl-illustrated challenges, too.

Challenge 4: Glutes Of Steel
Because I need stronger legs... 2!!! Fun fact: I've actually tried it before but didn't have the muscle to stick it out. This time I'll make it for sure! Unbound prepared me for this.

Wellbeing challenges: First Thing Water, Daily Hug, Daily Gratitude, Counting Victories
I think I'll make these permanent until further notice. The notice being whenever they stop helping me and start being a chore and a hindrance. Even the most helpful mindfulness exercise can become boring with enough repetition, after all.

While I'm at it, Wake Up! Mobility and Morning Stretching should be permanent too. I already do them every morning, might as well make it official. Assume EC (done right after waking up) for both of these.

* * *
As days grow longer,
My willpower grows stronger;
Time to raise the stakes.

March 1st:

Push-Up Streak day 30 (done twice: 55 wall push-ups in one go; and later in the gym - 45 incline push-ups in one go)
Unbound day 30
Exercise of the day (50 butt kicks)
Seated Calves with EC (done twice)
Super Abs (workout of the day)
Soft Cardio day 1 (level 1) - yep, that's a real workout for the shoulders. Wake Up! Energised prepared me for this, but not enough. Level 1 seems to be my limit for now.
Epic Hold day 1 (wall-supported squat hold (wall sit?) 3 x 20 seconds)
Upper Body Blast day 1
Lower Body Blast day 1 - split lunges are surprisingly difficult, but I can manage.
Glutes Of Steel day 1 - as I thought, after all the bridges in Unbound this is within my capabilities.
Come Alive with EC (kept balance without support)
Refresh
Reset Stretching

Oh, I seriously need to re-organize my way of logging the exercise. This^^^ is just exhausting.

5 min on elliptical trainer to warm up, then 30 min on a treadmill (2.88 km). Total running time - 25 minutes, walking time - 5 minutes (1 min warm-up, two 1 min breaks, 2 min cool-down). Discounting the walking, that's basically half of 5k run in one go, and my joints feel surprisingly alright! I think I will really be able to double this result during March, and then run 5k in April no problem.
Dead hang (10-count)
Vertical/standing pull-ups (3 x 20 reps)

Permanent challenges / daily exercise:
:v: Wake Up! Mobility
:v: Morning Stretching
:v: First Thing Water
:v: Daily Hug
:v: Daily Gratitude
  • I'm grateful for having my own place to live.
  • I'm grateful for free access to the gym in my apartment building.
  • I'm grateful for my family, who support me and want me to succeed, even when we don't see eye-to-eye.
:v: Counting Victories
  • The big victory for me is having had patience and persistence to keep working out for the last two years. I had to start very small and light, but because I kept at it, I am now—finally—at a level of fitness where I can take on challenges and programs I couldn't have managed a year ago. I've come a long way, and I have faith that eventually, I'll go even further.

Today I'm trying out new way of logging my exercise. I've decided to split it into programs and challenges that I'm doing this month, challenges that I'll keep doing until I get sick of them, and any additional exercise I might want to log. During Girl Power Week that specific section will be present as well, since I want to do several workouts from what's available. Also while I'm training for a run, I'll add a running section just to log how I trained for that specifically.

The planks in my challenges are indeed very challenging! I keep having to drop to my knees or switch to standing on my fists instead of putting pressure on the wrists. But I still managed it!

Curses, foiled again... Fell victim to procrastination and stopped daily logging my exercise. Maybe I should switch to weekly reports?

In any case, during this month I ran out of energy and had to not just stop with the daily log, but also slow down on the program in order to keep up with the challenges. Thus, I'll be finishing Soft Cardio during April. Also, the 5k run fell through a few weeks back - my dad said there weren't any more slots for participants... But life keeps going, and so do I.

  • I'm grateful to find so many beautiful socks getting sold at reasonable prices.
  • I'm grateful for deciding to go out last weekend and having such a good time there.
  • I'm grateful to my bank for providing cashback at our (relatively) local coffee roasting company and getting me to check it out, which led to having many great coffee experiences.

X Marks the Spot:heart::eheart::eheart:
Prime Shift:heart::eheart::eheart:
Exercise of the day (40 split jacks)
Exercise of the (yester)day (40 calf raises)
15 MIN GROOVY DANCE WORKOUT | Follow Along (YT) - wow, it's been a while since I was at any type of a dance lesson. That felt really good.

Actually, I first tried a different kind of dance video, where they show you the move and repeat it a few times, then do it faster, but... it was really bad. The count ("one-and-two-and-three-and-four") went completely off-beat! At some point the teacher started to show the move that went "[one-and-two] aand... threeandfour!" and I just. Rage-quit the entire video. Because if you're going to count, count evenly! Don't stretch out a single beat then finish the others so quickly! Either the entire sequence goes slow, or the entire sequence goes fast, otherwise it's just confusing and annoying.

Program 1: Back & Core because I want to upgrade my core strength and also this is labeled as add-on program, so I'm hoping it won't take so much energy that I'll have to take a break from it.

Program 2: Soft Cardio (last few days) because I still need to finish it.

Challenge 1: Jump Start because it's challenge of the month, and looks fun.

Challenge 2: Easy Cardio because I'll need it once Soft Cardio is done, but it's also easy enough to do while also doing Soft Cardio.

Challenge 3: Knee Push-Ups because my arms need extra work.

Challenge 4: Leg Day Everyday because my legs need extra work.

Wellbeing challenges (cont.) are First Thing Water, Daily Hug, Daily Gratitude, and Counting Victories.

  • I'm grateful to my cousin for lending me a ladder even though it was a pretty inconvenient time.
  • I'm grateful to the workers that got my A/C cleaned today.
  • I'm grateful to my mom for today's really nice (downright fancy) lunch.
:v: Counting Victories
  • Finally cleaned the humidifier.
  • Cleaned and completely re-organized the kitchen counter.
  • Made some really tasty coffee with oat milk despite not having any kind of espresso machine.
  • Started on regrowing a salad from a store-bought live one (the kind that gets sold in tiny pots with soil and roots coming out every which way).
  • Realized I don't actually need to limit myself to only one (1) victory per day.

  • I'm grateful for people who make free VPN apps and browser extensions.
  • I'm grateful to my sibling for sharing an extremely delicious kind of marzipan with me (usually marzipan is too sweet for my tastebuds, but this one is just right!).
  • I'm grateful that my local grocery store finally stocked up on properly fresh fruit and vegetables (as opposed to the usual near-moldy and actually moldy options).

  • Finished yesterday's errand mom asked me to do.
  • Disengaged from an argument in a comments section.

  • Another chance to wear my favorite sweater+jacket combo!
  • My skin seems to have gotten better after the last flare-up so I can hold off getting more medicine.
  • Absolutely delicious coffee.
:v: Counting Victories
  • Made wonderful coffee and finally managed to taste the undertones people were talking about! It really did taste a little like peach, pineapple, tangerine, and jasmine tea all at once. Fresh and tart and definitely not something I've ever tasted in a coffee before. I'm really happy.
  • Washed up as I cooked today, so another build-up of dirty dishes was avoided.

  • My lettuce plants are growing well.
  • Didn't have to cook today (had leftovers from yesterday).
  • Almost done with this month's program and challenges.
:v: Counting Victories
  • Had my own delicious bumble coffee with freshly squeezed orange juice and espresso from moka pot (got my own now!). It was a really tiny portion, unfortunately, because my moka pot is only 50ml and my manual juicer is, well, manual, and also not very big, so I only juiced one medium-sized orange. Anyway, this bumble coffee was more delicious than any I've tried before. Definitely doing this again. This coffee roast is marked as having grapefruit notes (which I could actually feel when I tried it on its own) so I want to try making bumble coffee with grapefruit juice, see if there will be any interesting synergy. Luckily I already have a grapefruit I can juice for this.
  • I think I finally figured out how to taste flavors and notes in coffee. It's aeration! Very unfair that aeration isn't mentioned more prominently as something that can drastically change your coffee experience. I basically stumbled upon it.

Exercise of the day (50 shoulder taps)

  • Made bumble coffee with grapefruit juice! And it was delicious!
  • Did the last days of all my challenges & the program in one go after waking up.
  • Got what I wanted from the grocery store just before it closed, even though I had to bike like crazy to get there in time.

May 2026

Program: Cardio Go! Because summer is coming, and I'm going to need some stamina to keep up with everything.

New challenges:
1. Groundwork Abs. Although it looks a little beyond my current abilities, it IS the challenge of the month, and also I want to... well... challenge myself. I might have to eventually drop a set (or two), but I really want to go all the way to the end of this challenge.
2. Atlas for some of that full body strength! I'm not a fan of isometric holds but I know they have their benefits, and with how much movement this month is going to have, I wanted to add something calmer.

Done challenges:
1. Push-Up Streak. I've done it before with wall push-ups. And now that I've upgraded to knee push-ups, I wanted to test my results and hopefully push them further.
2. Power Grip. It's been a while, and my forearms kind of lost the definition they got from the last time I did this challenge... So I'm repeating it.

Wellbeing challenges (cont.) are First Thing Water, Daily Hug, Daily Gratitude, and Counting Victories.

I'll keep doing Wake Up! Mobility and Morning Stretching in the morning as well.

Kind of a weird start to a month... First I went for a really late night walk (at like 2am) completely unprompted. Not even I know why I did that, it just... happened. Then in the morning my family came to visit unexpectedly with only 10 minutes of warning, so I had to clean up everything very quickly and didn't even have time to put the kettle on (mine's stovetop, not electric, so it takes time). Turns out they went to a Stranger Things-themed escape room and I was just on their way back, so they decided to come visit while they were around. Oh well, it did give me the chance to pass on the coffee grounds I've been collecting for their vegetable plot; and they brought snacks, saving me from having to make lunch, so... It ended up being kinda nice.

Anyway, I was totally scatterbrained the entire day, and barely managed to exercise. On a side note, I didn't need a mat for this day's exercise after all, which was surprising. I probably won't be able to get away with that when leg raises and reverse crunches come into play.

  • Valuable information was gained from my attempt to make coffee in a cezve. The next attempt will surely go better.
  • A necessary piece of furniture received.
  • Didn't have to cook today, thanks to yesterday's leftover soup and all the snacks I got at the last grocery run.
:v: Counting Victories
  • Made it through the day without taking a nap.
  • Got so much exercise done!
Additional:
Loosening Exercises for the Morning with Shi Heng Yi for about 10 minutes (YT video). This one reminded me strongly of the gym class tbh.
Exercise of the yesterday (40 jumping jacks)
Exercise of the day (60 balance leg swings)
Qigong for about 20 minutes (YT video). This was actually quite nice! The hardest part was keeping balance with bent knees for so long.
Undone Stretching (workout of the day) I've actually done this one very recently. Still nice stretch though.
5 exercise for waking up (YT short) I was so excited about being able to do all five of these, I actually did 20 reps for each exercise.
