Kung Fu Panda has lost his magnetism!

I haven't posted for a while. I've been going along fine though.

I had the physio on Monday. It was OK. I have some exercises to do.

Otherwise I'm largely up to date, with the exception of one day off, which I didn't mind too much.

Yesterday was HIIT day, and I did a fitness kaykay video. I'm working from home today so on to the next day of Totals too. Yesterday was push ups and punches.

On we go!

Hey. Thank you everyone.

Friday was strength day and I tried a new dumbbell workout (and gave myself bad triceps DOMS! My triceps are weak, that much is true!)

Saturday, combat day.

Sunday, running day. 12.5km run with 200 metres of climb.

I'm up to day 23 of Yoga EDD.

Done exercise of the day every day too.

On we go!

Thank you everyone.

Going along pretty well. Juggling things slightly this week to fit in some social stuff, but I've largely stuck to the Fighter schedule.

Today:

Exercise of the Day. Totals Day 10 - burpees! Yoga EDD day 27. Medium length run (in lovely weather).

Strength tomorrow.

On we go. x

Hey Everyone.

Thank you for the support.

I've been doing OK. Generally keeping to my schedule of the Fighter Programme, with three runs a week.

I did nothing yesterday, so back on track today with a short run at lunchtime I hope.

Still working through some challenges in my head, but I'm hopefully moving forward with those.

Have lovely days.

x

thank you Nancy, and thank you for all the likes!

Under the weather at the moment. Nothing serious I don't think, just a cold, but somewhat resting on the exercise front at the moment.

Hope to be back in action soon. I've been working out a more organised running programme in the meantime!

Have beautiful days everyone. x

Thank you Madam, thank you Nancy!

I was iller than I thought. I've been resting for a while, but I think I'm back in business now. I played football on Monday and went for a good, long walk on Tuesday. Both of them wiped me out to be honest - I'm still not 100% - but I feel like I can get moving again.

HIIT tomorrow.

x

Thank you everyone.

Still in recovery mode, but I've done something every day.

Short run on Sunday. Football yesterday. Level 1 of a combat workout today.

Not on full power by a long way, but moving!

I went to a physio today for my shoulder, so have another set of exercises/stretches to do.

And, tonight I'm going to Wales v Iceland football (Iceland in Welsh is Gwlad yr Iâ, which translates as Land of the Ice... unsurprising really.).

Apparently they're going to blow a Celtic war horn at the game tonight. Ok!

Thank you @Fitato, PSW, Mianevem, Laura, and MamaT!

I hope to be back here more regularly soon.

I haven't - and don't generally - made any resolutions around exercise. I would like to log myself a little more though.

I've been pretty good over Christmas and I've largely kept up my running and not fallen completely off doing the Fighter programme.

I'm excited about getting back to a full programme, but I have some house stuff to do first - decorating, moving furniture around.

I hope everyone is doing OK. I really value this community and wish you all the best for 2025. x

Hi everyone.

Thank you Flowers and Petals - what a lovely name! And thank you MamaT, it's always a pleasure to see you.

I'm back. . .

I do check in on you all from time to time.

I've been doing OK with my exercise.

Generally, I've been doing something like the Fighter Plan, with three runs a week, and a game of social football. I've dipped in and out of Yoga too, but haven't been following any particular programme.

I do a short run, a 5k, and a long run. The long ones have got up to 15 to 16 km, which is great.

Unfortunately, I'm injured again. I've had shoulder problems on and off (which I now think are down to a tight or pulled or strained tricep). And this Monday I did something nasty to my knee playing football. I don't think it's serious, but I've decided to take a short break from exercise and use the opportunity to reset.

So I haven't really done anything since Monday.

I can walk OK now, but my knee has some swelling and won't bend properly. Some online medicine suggests to me I've strained or stretched the lateral collateral ligament.

Otherwise, it's nice to back, and as part of my reset I'd like to post here properly again. This is all very cyclical I know, but I do keep climbing upwards.

I might try some more counselling. I'll probably mess around with meditation again. I'm still juggling around how to think about what I think is my ADHD.

We've had a lot going on here: work on the house, car breaking down, plumbing breaking... usual life stuff, but I haven't found it easy to deal with.

Oh, but we did go on holiday. It was very cold, but guess where I went! (I had to pull a serious face here, but we had a lot of fun...!)

Thank you everyone!

Oui, Nancy!

Thank you Laura. I've been to a doctor now (just a GP/family doctor) who had a good look and tells me it's a muscle issue rather than joint or ligament. He told me to rest, maybe take anti-inflamatories, ice, and raise my leg when possible. He seemed to make a thorough check of the joint.

Thank you, PSW. Maybe my face in the picture gives away my sympathies?! We had a very nice time, we had lots of lovely food (the cakes!), walked a lot, and really enjoyed the city at quite a quiet time, though it was very cold! We stayed in the 19th near Parc de Buttes Chaumont. Really a lovely visit!

I am still taking things easy. I've done some walking and some light calasthentics today. I'm not playing football till at least March 8th, and I won't run until Saturday at least. There's very little pain or discomfort now but a very impressive bruise that has climbed up the back of my leg and down my calf.

Patience for a while. And, I have to, I think, take notice of the fact that I keep injuring myself to the extent that I can't exercise and exercise is very good for me. So, I've got to find the right balance.

On we go my lovelies.

It’s so hard when you’re injured and you want to be active! I hope you recover quickly and get back to running and football (which would be what we call soccer in the USA?). Thanks for the compliment on my username. One of my daughters suggested it for this community :ss:

Thank you FaP!

I started running again today.

I did 5k - 5.12k to be exact - in 26:16. That's OK, and a good starting point for me. I have a 10k in April and I was a bit concerned that I might not be able to do it.

My knees seem fine, though I'm a bit more tired than I would have been before.

I did two short yogas from this playlist.

They're a good length for me and challenging - I can't do everything. I've been basically repeating the first two for a while but I'll probably move on soon.

And Exercise of the Day too!

On we go. x

I tried L-sit a few times back in the day (before I bought yoga blocks), but it always felt like my arms are too short :chuckle:
To be fair, people in my family have incredibly long backs compared to their arms and legs, I am the only one with a more balanced proportion xD
But my shoulders probably didn't hold me up very well. It looks so cool though!

A lot of yoga poses are definitely easier for certain body proportions over others. L-sit requires strength, mobility, and technique, but yeah: proportions play a role too. The blocks help to level the playing field. (But it's still going to be harder for a person with super long legs to lift them v. someone like Kino who is strong and short.)

Yeah, being tall and falling apart at the seams probably counts against me xD
But wouldn't it be cool if I could do it anyway?
Maybe that should be a future goal :chuckle:

Thank you Maega, thank you Damer, thank you Laura.

I had a somewhat off week last week. I managed to play football on Monday and my knee came through fine, but it wiped me out and I didn't do a great deal else for the rest of the week.

I've got an opportunity now to get back into my habits.

On Sunday:

Exercise of the day, backfists.

I've started engaging with an online martial arts group called Southpaw, who do "liberation martial arts" and I did their first conditioning exercises: shoulder press ups, press ups, squats, burpees, stance stretch, gorillia squats. I wasn't really counting, just checking things out and seeing what I could do. I enjoyed it.

I did two KinoYoga s Everyday Strength classes.

This flexibility one (which I have a question about later):

And, this workout from Kung Fu Life, which I really enjoyed and will probably do again:

Today:

Untimed run of 3.14km

KinoYoga L-sit class and 5 minute flexibility.

Exercise of the Day, pacer steps.

All good!

On we go.

thank you everyone!

I got Damer's book sent to me yesterday. I'm interested to take a look.

Combat day:

I did some of my Southpaw conditioning: shoulder pushups, pushups, squats, burpees, attempted gorilla squats.

And started back on this:

Also a short KinoYoga, on l-sit strength and some messing around with forward folding and bending to see about my flexibility.

I played football on Monday night.

On we go!

@colin great video and the exercises will definitely help you get fitter but the whole "Fat burning ..." thing in the title is factually wrong and scientifically misleading. I'm not going to add much more to this - these are people looking to earn a living out of these videos and doing something is 1000% better than doing nothing but it ain't gonna burn fat.

Thanks Damer. It's a bit weird that one, because they're definitely a genuine muay thai gym and legit in that sense (they have a few technique videos too), but they go a bit heavy on the marketing - one of their series is called a "zombie apocalypse" series that I think must have tied in with a film or TV release. Beyond the title, I think it's a good workout.

Casual training day today, so a run. 5.12 km in 26:34 (not very accurate timing!).

I've got a 10k in about a month. I haven't been following a training plan as I usually would. I'm confident I can do the distance now - I do 10k most Saturdays - but I'm not sure that I'm getting much faster.

I'm running a series this summer. For the first one I hope to do under an hour. Then I'd like to get under 50 minutes for one of the other two. I do a half marathon in October, and I'd just like to finish that!

I've done some yoga for strength from Kino, and a few stretching routines that I found around hamstrings - thank you to PSW and Fremen for the advice on my question about that.

My hope is that I can keep these up more regularly.

As I was working from home today I did Day 21 of Totals. I've just started back up where I left off with that. It was abs. And it was a challenge, but I did everything for the day.

Tomorrow is HIIT day.

Thank you everyone. And on we go. :)

I look forward to fighting for chocolate cake!

Yesterday:

I've generally been doing Exercise of the Day and did yesterday.

I did Day 21 of Totals through the day in my work breaks - a leg day.

I did a Fitness KayKay video for my HIIT - an AMRAP style one, very sweaty as promised!

And some Yoga stretching for my hamstrings.

We went for a walk to pick some nettles and made soup with them. It was lovely.

Strength day today.

On we go!
