Ooooooh I love the idea of tracking how many books one has read in the year. Would encourage me to finish up the 10+ I started (I read a lot of non-fiction so... it's been non-linear haha). How did you measure muscle mass and body fat % (I use a Hume scale and the RFM calculation both).

I am wondering, how these numbers, especially the amount of muscle mass is possible. Isn't it more likely that your scale measures lean body mass?

With 20% (~17kg) fat there are just ~3kg left for everything else... organs, skeleton, etc. ... seems wrong.

@HellYeah Tanita defines Muscle Mass as: "Muscle mass includes skeletal muscle, smooth muscle (such as heart and digestive muscles) and the water in your muscles."

I mostly use Muscle Mass and BF% as indicators of how lean I am, too. I have progression photos from 2015 onward. My Tanita data, with my pictures, tells me which numbers I strive for. I am aiming for a BF% at 16-17 and a weight of 78-80 kg without losing too much muscle mass. Going forward to 2018, so to speak.

The last few months have been a rollercoaster. In early April, I learned that I had Graves’ disease again—hyperthyroidism. After being examined in mid-April, I started medication shortly afterwards. I last experienced this illness in 2021.

Fortunately, I already know this illness and understand how it affects me. With Graves’ disease, I may tire more quickly now, but I focus on maintaining my motivation and adapting where needed. So I had to pause the training program I just started.

For the last two weeks, I have been on sick leave from work, using the time to rest and recover. I start work again tomorrow.

I kept cycling to work and did some gardening at our summer house. Now, I feel ready to return to training, though it will be a slow restart.

Many people lose weight with Graves’ disease, but as before, I gained 2 kilos in the first two weeks of April. Stressful periods make me eat too much, and with Graves’ disease, my body always feels energy-deprived. That explains the weight gain. I have now adjusted my calorie intake, and I plan to return to my normal weight as I gradually resume training and get my diet properly on track.
