About a month ago, I started doing some Darebee workouts to improve my cardiovascular endurance.

Yesterday, since it looked like fun, I decided to give the Ornaments Event a go.

Today, I am starting this log to keep track of my progress and try to conquer the yet-frightful burpees.

To be honest, keeping up with the posting is probably going to be the hardest part for me. :sweat:

Day 1 (yesterday)

- Cardio workout: High Ground - Level III

- Yoga workout: Body Flow


Ornaments Event:
  1. Squats: 80
  2. Arm circles: 320 (regular and wide, front and back)
  3. "Push-ups": 80 (I can't do regular push-ups right now due to some pain in one of my wrists, so I just did body saws instead).
  4. Jacks: 320 (jumping jacks)
  5. Punches: 320 (jab and cross)
  6. Kicks: 80 (snap and push kicks)

Day 2

Strength workout - December25 Push
  • Barbell bench triceps extension
  • W-press
  • One-arm high to low strap fly
  • Kickbacks (according to my plan, this was supposed to be a high-to-low plank, but I had to change it because of my wrist).
  • Upright row
  • Hammer-grip dumbbell bench press

Today I spread the Ornament Event exercises throughout the day. This was one set:
  1. Step Jacks: 20
  2. Arms circles: 20 (10 front, 10 back)
  3. Squats: 10
  4. Dolphin body saw: 10 (I changed it to make it a little more challenging for the arms)
  5. Jumping jacks: 20
  6. Wide arm circles: 20 (10 front, 10 back)
  7. Snap & Push kicks: 20
  8. Jab & cross: 40

Ornament Event Totals:
  • Squats, "push-ups" and kicks = 80 + 100 = 180
  • Arm circles, jacks and punches = 320 + 400 = 720

Day 3

Instead of doing the cardio workout I had planned, I just built a workout using the Ornament exercises to complete the reps.

I followed the classic structure of "Level III 7 sets; Rest up to 2 minutes."
  1. 40 jumping jacks
  2. 40 arm circles
  3. 20 squats
  4. 20 body saws
  5. 40 seal jacks
  6. 40 wide arm circles
  7. 20 snap or push kicks
  8. 80 punches
For yoga I did Wake up & connect.

Ornament Event Totals:
  • Squats, "push-ups" and kicks = 80 + 100 + 140 = 320
  • Arm circles = 320 + 400 + (240 + 560) = 1520 (I completed 240 extra throughout the day)
  • Jacks and punches = 320 + 400 + 560 = 1280
Side note: I foresee that tomorrow I might wake up moving like a cyborg, given the probable soreness in my calves and maybe in my quads too.

Day 4


Today I only had some mild soreness in my quads, and my calves were perfectly okay after all.

I spread the Ornament event exercises throughout the day, and followed my planned leg and arm workouts.

- December25 Strength Leg Workout
- December25 Strength Pull Workout

Ornament Event Totals:
  • Squats and "push-ups" = 80 + 100 + 140 + 110 = 430
  • Kicks = 80 + 100 + 140 + 0 = 320
  • Arm circles = 320 + 400 + 800 + 200 = 1720
  • Jacks and punches = 320 + 400 + 560 + 160 = 1440

Tomorrow I’ll try to complete the remaining reps.

Day 5

To complete the remaining reps for the Ornament, I just did the same workout as on Friday, but changing the number of repetitions for some of the exercises.

Level III 7 sets, with about 1 minute rest in between.
  1. 40 jumping jacks
  2. 20 arm circles
  3. 10 squats
  4. 10 body saws
  5. 40 seal jacks
  6. 20 wide arm circles
  7. 26 snap or push kicks
  8. 80 punches
As I usually do, I fitted the yoga workout Glow up in the rest periods just to force myself to stay focused and actively rest.

Ornament Event Totals:
  • Squats and "push-ups" = 80 + 100 + 140 + 110 + 70 = 500
  • Kicks = 80 + 100 + 140 + 0 + 182 = 502
  • Arm circles = 320 + 400 + 800 + 200 + 280 = 2000
  • Jacks and punches = 320 + 400 + 560 + 160 + 560 = 2000
With that, I just completed enough Jacks to hang a beautiful rose on the tree. :hooray:

Instead of doing separate yoga workouts, I started the Program 30 days of Yoga, along with two challenges.

Workout of the day:
✔️ Light cardio: Sparrow.
✔️ 30 days of Yoga: Day 1.
✔️ 1 minute plank challenge: Day 1.
✔️ 1 minute meditation challenge: Day 1.

    • Reverse nordic curl

    • Seated adduction with knee bended

    • Straddle hip flexion and toe point
Today’s workout:

✔️ 1 minute plank challenge: Day 2.
✔️ 1 minute meditation challenge: Day 2.

For the plank challenge, I plan to add 5 seconds every day and do a plank three times a day. I’m doing it before every meal —except for breakfast, which I do after, as I discovered that I can’t do pretty much anything without having breakfast.

Today I started the 60 days of cardio program. I’m going to swap days around depending on the pre-set workout intensity and my activity level of the day.

Since my wrist no longer hurts, I added three reps of a sun salutation and basic burpee hybrid to every set of today’s cardio workout. This is meant to help me ease into the burpee in a slow and controlled way.

For next month, I checked if I could handle all the planks of the Hero Plank challenge. The most challenging were the alt arm/leg raises, but I can manage if I stay very focused. To make it more fun, I’m going to randomize the order (thank you, @MangoTux , for the idea): First, I will roll an alphabet dice. For the number of reps, I will roll two six-sided dice and add the result to 10.
