add manifest.json file to the website in order to make the website become a progressive web app?

I am currently using darebee in my mobile phone and this website is more than a live saver when I want to seek for traning plans and workout for my day-to-day basis. But there is just one little nickpick. This website can easily be a app in PC though "Install page as an app" on any chromium browser but due to lack of the required manifest.json file load in head tag, they cannot do the same in android and can only be work like a bookmark.
I wonder if admin or whoever develop the website can make some simple change to make that possible. I have think about some benefit when add that support if you want to hear:

• fast access on any android device - they live and look like mobile apps in their launcher
• full-screen experience - look just like a normal android apps(without we actually need to develop one), webview strip out all the menu, url, navigation thing appear in current browser, less distraction
• simplified navigation - the 'web app' will live separately in the app drawer, and not inside my 20+ tabs that I used for all sort of things

@the99spuppycat Thanks for the suggestion and for taking the time to explain the benefits It’s always helpful to hear how people are actually using the site day to day.

At the moment DAREBEE is built and maintained as a lightweight website rather than an app-style experience, and adding full Progressive Web App support isn’t quite as simple as dropping in a manifest file. It affects how the whole platform behaves across devices, so it’s something we have to approach carefully.

That said, your suggestion makes sense and we’ll definitely keep it in mind as we continue improving the mobile experience. Appreciate you sharing it
