@graoumia Nothing beats an outdoor gym. Or in my case: a large mat on the tiles in the back garden. Great for exercising.

I had a good day today hunting second hand books. I’m tracking down sources for historical research and I found a whole stack of rare magazines from the fifties in an online shop that closes in a few days. Incredible lucky and I even got a discount!

Went to see La venue de l’avenir, without any prior knowledge. The movie starts slow with rather unlikable and one dimensional characters and blunt cuts to a very romanticised Paris is the late 1800, heavily drawing on well known paintings. There’s some funny moments and a few very silly moments. Then halfway the speed picks up and the stories deepen, the characters become more rounded and the set design becomes more meaningful. And you have to reevaluate the storytelling in the first part. It’s a movie that makes you think about making movies. I liked the comedy, it has a lot of well known and good French actors and it has some endearing moments. I enjoyed it a lot.

@Threadweaver no, I’m going to build it in the coming months. I’m in desperate need of shelves for books. We have this big attic over here that would be marvellous as a study / guest room, but we’ve never found the time to fix it up. But now it’s the next project at hand. The bookcase adds about 25m in shelves. Which should be enough for books I now have stored in boxes.

I had a very funny little talk with a neighbour who mistook my cat for his. They are remarkably alike! His is smaller and female, but the markings are identical.
