Welcome to my training log​


About myself
I am married to Mathilde and the father of two wonderful girls – Emma and Emilie. I love staying fit, learning, and challenging myself to do new things. In my spare time, I read novels and non-fictional books on subjects regarding international relations and history and play tabletop strategy games with friends.

In the summer of 2020, I enrolled in the Teacher Education programme, which I plan to finish next summer. My specialisations are Secondary Mathematics, History and special education needs. After almost 20 years at the Copenhagen City Council Secretariat, I resigned as legal advisor in December 2021. On 1 August 2022, I started as a Special Education Teacher trainee at a special school in Gentofte.

Why I train
I will allow myself to quote a fellow bee.
"Because I'm not getting any younger, and because it's always nice to be able at 47 to do things you wouldn't have dreamt of doing when you were 20."

This quote from the project also encapsulates why I train:

"The way we see it, fitness is very much a personal quest that changes you inside and out. When you train, you don't just strengthen your body; you strengthen your resolve, forge a stronger and more capable you."

My training regime
For years, I ran or lifted weights twice a week, often interrupted by long breaks where I didn't train. In 2015 I stumbled across Darebee by coincidence, and this was a real game-changer for me. I began with Darebee's workouts on lv 1, and I didn't dream of doing two challenging workouts in a row with almost no rest time.

Darebee has taught me how ineffective my previous training regime was. The results and progression I have made since becoming a proud member of Darebee still surprise me. But also the time and energy I have to invest in making this happen.

I have experienced the hard way that it is necessary to train consistently for a more extended period to maintain my current fitness and progress. I am very fond of endurance training, and I love those days when I go all in.

Revised goals for 2022​


My focus for 2022 is general fitness, emphasizing strength/tone, streamlining, cardio and flexibility.

To achieve this, I have set the following goals for 2022.

Push-ups: 11.500

Pull-ups: 170

A Virtual Trip Around The World 1890 (reboot): I plan to virtually reach Cairo (London-Istanbul- Cairo), approximately 5.000 km of walking.

Consistency: To do three bike rides each week and a light workout every day

Self-care: Read six books and start painting my orc army

Weight: 80 kg

Body fat %: 16

After 10 km on my bike, my front derailleur wouldn't shift, so that I couldn't change the chain from the small to the large chainring. I, therefore, had to stop and cycle home. Despite the mechanical failure, it was a lovely trip through the autumn landscape. There was a dense fog. The fog was so thick that it was impossible to see beyond the fields and created a magical atmosphere.

There was no cycling for me today because of my front derailleur. So instead, I chose to do a strength workout with some abs and core training. I restarted the programs "Total Abs" and "Back and Core" because a strong core and lower back will be helpful to avoid injuries when road cycling. I hadn't done a Darebee strength workout for quite some time, so I was looking forward to my training session. Grown Up was a perfect choice, and I enjoyed my training session.

During today's training session, I could certainly feel that there are currently long intervals between my Darebee training sessions. It is my experience that continuous daily training gives the best results concerning overall fitness, strength and flexibility. I have not yet found a good routine to fit my Darebee training sessions between work, studies and road cycling. My last two training sessions took me 45 minutes to complete, and my goal for the coming week is to find the time for a daily 45-minute workout.

Happy New Year!
The last two months have been hectic as I completed three subjects on my Teacher Education programme, exams and work. On Wednesday, I passed my history exam and am now qualified as a history teacher in Secondary School :worried:

I have had no time to train in the last two months besides a few bike rides, push-ups and casual training. So I have been looking forward to getting started again!

I have suffered from a cold and a sore throat for the past week. The weather is stormy, which hasn't helped my cold. Therefore, I have postponed my training reboot for a few days until the weather clears up and I don't have nearly as much of a cold.

This January, I am doing an internship at the school where I work. So I don't have time for long bike rides on my bike in the afternoon, and it has to wait until February.

But on the other hand, I have a semester break from my studies. For the first time in several months, I do not attend classes in the evenings or at weekends, and I do not have meetings with my study groups. It is fantastic to have the afternoon and evening off.

According to the plan, I will finish the Teacher Education program this summer. The upcoming semester will not be as hectic as the previous two semesters. I only have two subjects this coming semester and two exams this summer.

I look forward to following up on your training logs and seeing what happens in the Hive!

My internship is over, and I am returning to more ordinary everyday life. During the internship's last two weeks, I attended classes 2 to 3 times in the evening, so I look forward to some quieter days with some restitution. I tried to start at the boot camp program, but I had to realize that it was too hard a program, to begin with after such a long training break. I strained my right arm muscles, and it took a little more than one week to heal. So instead, I started Fireheart and Unbound, a foundation for Bootcamp later this year. My goal is still to get started again with a more regular training routine.
