Dear
@Mamatigerj : I have not been shy about speaking my mind re: the things going on in your country these days. I've not held back from blaming the people who did and still do support him either. Our votes and our voices have an impact, and we all of us need to take responsibility for that impact. But I want you to know that I see you. I see you and others like you who did not vote for and do not support the ugliness. I see you and others like you speaking out now, and doing what you can--sometimes in big ways, sometimes in small ways, sometimes in downright scary ways, but doing it nonetheless--to fight the darkness and to be a force for good. I see you, and
I thank you. His shame is
not your shame. I still have faith that you and all the others like you, fighting for good, will be able to turn the tide and defeat the monster. And when that happens, the rest of us will be able to welcome the US back into our community. Battered and bruised, surely. But we will welcome you back all the same. And we will remember those of you who stood steadfast and strong and never once strayed from the path of kindness, cooperation, and love. You are a hero!
