I recommend placing the bar and weights on a rubberized mat, along a wall.

Hey, welcome.

Out of curiosity, how heavy are the weights? Are we talking full on 45 lbs weights, or more along the line of 10-20 lbs?

And what exercises do you plan to do with them?

As @Diego1978 recommends, you will need a mat to help absorb the impact. You do not necessarily need a rack/stand, but it makes it easier for setting up different exercises like shoulder presses and squats.

Whatever you do, don't drop the bar and weights on the floor!
