I began today with a low fever, body aches and sore throat. :tired: I shlepped between the couch and my bed for a while but I hate being sick and there's only so much reading, TV watching and cups of hot water/lemon juice/honey/cayenne pepper I can stand. So I did some easy chores in between rest breaks. It is such a beautiful Spring day today; warm, sunny, amazing. I really wanted to work in the garden but didn't have the energy. Instead, I put out a couple of new garden gnomes and watered my houseplants.

I don't know if it was wise, but I decided to do my workout because the Forces of Light need to rally!!! The battle call was issued and I answered!!

I am feeling much better today, just a sniffle and fatigue left. I think I had a Covid variant as it's going around my area. If so this will be my third time getting Covid and it's no longer a big deal. Rest, stay home, keep hydrated, etc. At last I felt up to exercising so here I am!

Hi Bees!

It's been a few days since I've logged. Last week was a blur. My exercise consistency was down due to recovery from the crud. On Saturday I spent the day out in the garden edging the lawn, mowing and transplanting lots of plants from pots to the ground. This is the only time of year when the soil is soft enough for me to dig decent sized holes. Needless to say, I overdid the digging part and had DOMS the next day. Today was fairly quiet at work as I prepare for yet another audit from a different agency. :eyes: I'm looking forward to some time off the week after Easter.

April Fools! The biggest joke was on my community as we had a major snowstorm this morning. I had a sketchy drive to work through the snow, slipping and sliding, but the odd thing was that there was NO snow at the school. Zip. Nada. Zilch. Weird. That was this morning. When I arrived home today there are only patches of snow left. It's truly been classic Spring weather up here; sunny and warm, then cold and rain or snow.

It was a day of constant interruptions and I'm feeling a tad bit grumpy. The answer? Work out! So I did. I feel better now. :)

It's been a lovely, cold Spring day outside today. I wish I could spend more time out there during the week. Soon I'll have that option as the days get longer. It's been a tough week mentally and physically. But I press on! Never give up, never surrender!

Thanks @Syrius @CODawn ! I think I like SOMA 40+ even more than Total Burn. :)

This weekend flew by. Saturday my daughter and I went thrift store shopping. I found some 'new' pots for my houseplants. Sunday was spent in the garden. I am attempting to resurrect my lawn by de-thatching and overseeding. We'll see. There are a lot of weeds in there too but I don't like to use chemicals in the garden so I'll have to get rid of those by hand. Anyway, all the hard raking was a terrific workout. I bought two little tomato plants and they are keeping warm in my mini-greenhouse on the patio. It's still way to cold to plant stuff; our average last frost date is May 15. Meanwhile, I keep preparing planting beds, transplanting perennials and dreaming of garden fresh tomatoes.... :drool:

Another beautiful day. I was able to sit outside on my lunchbreak and get some vitamin D. 🌞 Counting down the days until Spring Break...student behavior has been off the charts lately. In the meantime, I press on!

Hi bees! I took a bit of a break from logging and I didn't exercise much either. Mentally I was not in a great place and was feeling overwhelmed with pretty much everything. Job, parenting, elder care, health issues, finances, etc. I did a lot of yardwork though which counts for something! I am determined to make my garden beautiful this year. This process has already begun indoors as I have re-potted all of my houseplants and propagated some more (I have lots of houseplants :ss:). The weather has been warm and sunny too. Next week is spring break so I will have some time to spend in the garden.

Quite right, this is a "fitness server". But remember that fitness isn't solely physical. It's also emotional, mental, spiritual. If expressing comments helps any of those areas improve (or at least, prevents any of those areas imploding), then please express (bearing in mind, as I'm sure you would, common decency standards). Sometimes it helps to express ourselves to people who don't know us. Like spilling your life story to a taxi driver.

@TopNotch @josh342 Thanks for the reminder. I just don't want to come off as whiny. I have so much that I'm thankful for. But just dealing with some new and still unknown health issues has been really stressful.

Yesterday was a marathon day of shopping for groceries, yardwork, housework and baking. I got over 18k steps in, plus mowing and weeding and digging, so I feel accomplished. This morning there has already been a minefield of Easter pastries and casseroles, which I managed to avoid for the most part. This evening there will be more feasting, though my appetite hasn't been great lately and I've lost some weight. I am focusing on eating mostly plant-based and avoiding sugar which could be one of the whys behind the weight loss.
I've been learning about Blue Zones (places in the world where people live consistently longer than average life spans). I find it fascinating. There's so much more to it than just how one eats. It's about community, movement, environment, purpose, etc. Some areas I do very well in. Others, not well at all. It's given me a lot to think about.

Yesterday I went to Civilization all day. Today I had to go back. Thursday I will go once more. :big-cry: However, on Thursday I will finally get the results from all my recent biopsies and scans. It will be a relief to know what I'm facing. My plans of working in the garden haven't materialized yet but tomorrow looks favorable. I do not want to spend my whole week off driving to Civilization and back; it's wearing me out and costing lots of $ in gas. I need to sleep in. I need to putter. I need to hike. Pressing on.

@Mamatigerj thanks. So the news is that I need some minor surgery, which was not unexpected. The other part of the equation rests upon the results from genetic testing, which haven't come back yet. :p When I have those results I'll have a better idea if additional surgery is needed or not.

Today is Saturday and what have I been doing this week besides driving to Civilization again? Well, I took a lovely hike. I puttered around in the garden and donated a big load of stuff. Yesterday I was feeling exhausted and so I didn't do much; some meal prep, some ironing and binge watched my favorite cooking competition show. I feel much better today.

The weather was beautiful yesterday and I did some yard work. My energy level has been fluctuating wildly lately. Some days there is no energy. Other days I feel full of zip and do too much to make up for the days when I didn't do much at all. It's been difficult to regulate.
Today it was back to work and it was a good day. We're gearing up towards the end of the school year!

Yesterday I worked very late and only did my PT exercises; but I did something. :ss: I got the genetic testing results back and they were negative!:welcome: I'm very thankful as that takes one surgery off the list. It looks like I'll have to go under the knife in a few weeks to take care of the other issue. It shouldn't be a big deal; it's outpatient and recovery is a few days. I think the worst part will be the general anesthesia. I'm looking forward to feeling like myself again this summer.

I've been spending lots of time in the garden. It's so therapeutic. And this spring has been especially lovely. Yesterday I took a short drive up the highway to visit a few of my favorite haunts. The lakes are full, the dogwood trees are blooming and everything is lush and green. Sorry no pictures to share; I was busy being in the moment.

I've been consistently inconsistent with my workouts these past months. Last week I caught the Dreaded Crud. I don't know what kind of virus it was but it laid me out for several days and I'm still not 100%. Now my daughter has it. :p I did do a bit of gardening and some high-powered Spring housecleaning to keep moving but had no energy to maintain regular workouts too. Starting again and pressing on! Each day is an opportunity to start over, right?

Speaking of gardening, I have a little green tomato already! It's a Cherokee heirloom plant that someone gave me, I've never grown this variety before, should be yummy! My radishes are up and so are my cucumbers, giant sunflowers and Shasta daisies. And I think the basil is coming up too. Lots to look forward to in the garden if I can keep the critters out. Last week a jackrabbit somehow got through the wire fence! I hope he doesn't come back. And the squirrels keep eating my chrysanthemums. The deer gaze longingly through the fence though; it's much too high for them.

My daughter is still very sick and feeling frustrated with how long she's been ill. I get it. We are both terrible patients. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon.
Today the entire school went to the theatre to see our school's performing arts production of Shrek Jr. It was really good! It was a needed break during the day, even if I had to baby-sit some naughty middle-school boys during the performance. :sus:

Wow my logging has been terrible! I am doing exercise, just not always Darebee stuff. I've been working in the garden a lot and managed to badly sprain one of my fingers. Unfortunately it's on my writing hand and holding a pencil has been painful. My daughter is feeling much better; thanks for the vibes @Maegaranthelas !

I am having surgery later this week and expect to be out of commission for a week. We'll see what the doc will let me do and when. Anyway, it's been a frenzy of activity trying to get things done ahead of time so I won't fret about stuff while I'm recovering. Did I mention that I'm a bad patient? Yeah. It's gonna be hard just....recovering.

Back to gardening, Pixie was very helpful in the garden-NOT. She runs around and hides and refuses to come in when it's time. Here's a picture of one of her hiding places:
