I hope the operation goes very well and that the recovery is as bearable as possible, even if it is hard to stay still, and I say this from my own experience. Lots of encouragement these days! I will be thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery.

@graoumia @Maegaranthelas @Mr.Javo @Mamatigerj :thanks: for the support.

I have a couple of days left before the surgery to tie up loose ends--and it seems there are lots! My surgeon's office called today and told me my surgery time had been rescheduled. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with it but it's an hour's drive just to get to the hospital and now they want me there ready to go at 5:30am. :big-cry: I will be getting up very early indeed so I can shower and use the special soap they gave me. Oh well, best to get it done and over with I suppose.

Today I finished a couple of projects at work so I won't stress over the next several days that I'm off. Things around the house are shaping up too and I have lots of unsolicited offers of help in case I need it. I'm not sure what workouts I'll be able to do in the next several weeks; probably just walking, we'll see.

Hi bees! Just popping in to say that my surgery went very well. I've had more pain and swelling than I anticipated so I'm laying pretty low. I've already discovered that doing too much too soon is not helping! Basically I'm able to water the yard and not much else. Thanks for all the healing vibes. :hheart:

@Mamatigerj @CODawn @NancyTree @Anek @graoumia :thanks:

I am feeling better, just a bit low on energy. Pain is better too. I got bored resting so decided to do some exercise today. No crunches for awhile though, so I'll have to put the Crunch Challenge on hold, or just start over when I can.
It's been hot here and I've been watering the garden a lot. And eating my strawberry crop. :drool: We have a new addition to the garden:

A beautiful gopher snake. While I don't mind them (they are non-venomous), I don't really want it to get comfortable here either. There's nothing worse than being surprised by a snake heading towards you because you watered its hideout. :eyes:

Stitches come out tomorrow! Fingers crossed that the doc will ease up on my current restrictions.

Snake was out in the yard again yesterday and scared one of our cats. At least one of them has the good sense to run from a snake. The other one is banned from the yard for now.

Today my stitches came out. All that's left is some lab work and residual healing. I feel pretty good, a bit tired, but I guess it's only been a week. Trying really hard to be kind to my body and let it heal.

It was a hot, sunny weekend. I went to the lake with friends & family and enjoyed swimming and floating around on my raft. :chilling: I've been experiencing nasty muscle spasms associated with my surgery so I took it easy. Work is crazy with school winding down and the end of the fiscal year for me. At least I'm not bored!

My workplace was a difficult place to be today plus having a throbbing headache all day didn't help. I'm so glad it's Friday! Still dealing with post-surgery fatigue and I just want to go to bed at 8pm every night. :zzz: I'll be out of town this weekend for a memorial service and will spend most of the time driving. My motel has a pool though so maybe I'll get to swim. 🥲

Last weekend was a long but good trip. There was a lot of driving and listening to Mom reminisce. But I convinced her to go to a high end store and buy a really hip pair of sneakers. :LOL: We had Thai food for dinner too. On Sunday we visited some long-time family friends and paid our respects to one who recently passed. It was actually a beautiful time and I was able to reconnect with a friend I'd known since age 5. There was a 5 hour drive home afterwards, so I was tired when we crested one of the last passes and saw wildfire smoke. Apparently a lightning strike started a wildfire less than a mile from where I work. :oops: Thankfully, fire crews were on it right away but flames were visible from my workplace that night and it was quite smoky on Monday. The fire is contained now at just under 50 acres and no longer a threat. We did get more dry lightning yesterday and today and fires keep popping up all over the county. Most of them are located in very remote areas and easily quenched by air attack. Living in fire country is stressful though and everyone is a bit on edge. A few years ago I had to evacuate when a very large fire threatened our area. But it's part of the risk of living where I do. I've lived in earthquake country too and I would imagine that folks who live in tornado and hurricane country get somewhat used to the threats where they live. It's not fun, but you learn how to prepare and deal with it.

Still working long hours. I worked all day in the garden on Saturday. On Sunday, we went to a little cafe along the river for lunch and watched people rafting and kayaking. It was so nice! I'm still covered in mosquito bites and have resorted to burning citronella candles, eating garlic and sleeping with the fan on, to no avail. This afternoon I went outside for 5 minutes to turn on the sprinkler and came in with two new bites. :big-cry: I almost don't want to go outside right now!

Well the party was outside last night but it must've been in a mosquito-free zone, thankfully no new bites, just a lovely dinner with friends. The deer are birthing here and there's a new little fawn around though I haven't been able to get a photo yet. I hope the coyotes/mountain lions/dogs, etc. don't find it.

Chilling Summer Solstice GIF by Molang

Happy Summer Solstice!!

Yesterday evening I saw a fox inside our fenced yard. It looked at me and then jumped through the square hole in the wire fencing. Our fence is wire and has graduated holes: smaller on the bottom to keep out rabbits and then gradually bigger--but not too big. That little stinker fox has been slinking around the yard whenever it pleases. In fact, I'm sure it was in our yard the other night too, since the cats were going nuts in the house. While I don't think Pixie would be tempting to a fox (she's much too chonky) our other cat Ginger would definitely be a mouthful. I'm not sure what to do to keep the foxes out, other than add chicken wire to the fence. This would look bad and cost a lot. The cats will probably be banned from the yard unless a human is out with them.

It was a blissfully quiet day at work. My contract is almost up for the summer--I can't wait! I will work a few optional and extra days here and there but I'll not have the requirement to be in all week. Freedom!!:welcome:

Last night I stayed up late watching a movie and slept in this morning; until Pixie could no longer wait for her breakfast, that is. Chonky kitties need food!

@graoumia I made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies--well, last night I made and ate some dough! Later today I baked the cookies. :gotcookie:

It's funny since I don't eat as much sugar anymore how very sweet the cookies tasted. I even cut down the amount of sugar in the recipe. Most candies and goodies and even coffee drinks are way too sweet for my palate now. I guess that's a good thing.

My daughter has a terrible cold and I feel like I'm fighting one...but I will not give in! Never surrender! I had a low key day; did some meal prep, mowed the lawn, made sun tea.

Work felt disjointed today. Lots of things going on, people in and out, deliveries, etc. It wasn't bad, just different. I'm feeling okay today; maybe allergies were kicking in or it's because of all the blasted mosquito bites that I got yesterday when watering the garden. This has been the worst year by far. I have a strong desire to bite into a bulb of raw garlic to ward off the mosquitos, but I don't think my co-workers would appreciate it. :muahaha:

It is HOT :soaked: I tried working in the garden for a while but had to quit. So I found a shady spot and began sorting all of my recyclables: aluminum cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles. If one wishes to recycle stuff up here you have do it yourself and take everything to the recycler. There's probably at least enough in recyclables to pay for a dinner out, maybe more. While I was doing that a very dear friend called and we ended up talking for two hours. The recyclables will wait for another day.

I've been offsite doing other exercising stuff. On Tuesday we had the most intense thunderstorm I have ever experienced. There was continuous lightning and thunder for hours and hail and torrential rain (yay! I didn't have to water the garden for days!). The power went out. I actually heard a lightning bolt that struck nearby and the immediate thunder literally shook the house. There were thousands of lightning strikes and now we have fires popping up all over the mountains. :bigsad: Now I hear the fire helicopters taking off and landing all day long. No fires near us thankfully.

It's Independence Day in the USA today. Our little town has a great parade and lots of festivities. I have been eating junk all day (homemade cherry pie? Ice cream? Free popcorn from the movie theatre? Yes please!). :eatall: I guess this workout is motivated by guilt, but at least I showed up!

I BBQ'd some sausages and hot dogs. Very American!

Hello lovely bees! Wow it's been a long time off the Hive. I've been gardening, going to water aerobics and working at the office a LOT. My elderly mom had surgery and my car had mechanical problems (mouse nest in the engine compartment, among other things!), and did I mention that I'm taking an online class too? :yaz: Plus it's been over 105F / 40C here for the last week and that has really sapped my motivation. I'm in dire need of a break from everything. My daughter and I are planning a short getaway near the ocean for a few days later this week and I hope to have some down time. But it's a struggle to get everything done just to get away. Pressing on.

Greetings from The Woods! I have been off. Off work, off site, off my rocker, etc. I went to see an old friend and we visited the beach. I made my famous scones and we had a tea party. I have been hiking nearly every day and going to water aerobics. I've picked blackberries, built a compost bin out of old pallets and have done lots of yardwork. We celebrated my daughter's birthday too. So I have been very active, just not on the Hive. But I've missed everyone here. :sendinglove: This morning I wasn't able to go hiking and now there's a thunderstorm rolling in, so indoor exercise it is!

Hello, hello! Long time no log! The short version of everything is we have had a family crisis, I went back to work and have had back problems. Everything is ok now (mostly). Logging workouts was just one more thing I didn't have the bandwidth for. Water aerobics has been hit-or-miss; we've had lots of thunderstorms (and fires!!) that have cancelled classes. So no promises or guilt; I'll just pop in when I can and try to stay current with y'all. :)
