Today was a dress rehearsal for our chorus performance tomorrow. Our director surprised us with a new song to sing with the band! :eyes: Thankfully it's very easy.

Still dealing with horrible back spasms. I'm trying very hard not to do anything that will aggravate them, and rest/hot/cold compress/specific gentle stretches. Hoping to be through this soon.

Aw thank you @Syrius & @AgileGrrl :thanks:

Last night's performance went really well! Our last song with the band had everyone up and dancing.

My back is s-l-o-w-l-y getting better. I am being very careful not to push it. Thanks for all the healing vibes, bees :ss:

Today the back spasms finally disappeared :worried: I can now stand up without wincing in pain. This was good timing because my workday was extremely hectic and I was up and down a lot. My ears are still ringing.

Today I decided to update my resume and apply for another job. After the chaos at work this week and especially today, my mental health must take priority. There's a high chance that I won't get the job but what's the worst that could happen? I remain in the circus-like atmosphere for a while longer. :tude:

I'm always interested in home remedies @LiteraryMatcha
If you can, get a pair of massage spiky balls of different hardness (ideally one harder than another).

Lie down on top of the balls or against a wall. Rotate it against the muscle that is spasming (if you can, try to find out which muscle it could be i.e. with a muscle map pic, so you make sure you cover all the potential muscle knots). This method I use often when I get back spasms myself.

Also, there is an evidence based book for self-help supplementary medical approaches to heal chronic pain that I incidentally got in a book exchange which shows with real human pictures some myofascial relief techniques (stretching) and with massage balls (wrapped in a towel if too spiky).

I think it's ok for me to send a few pics of it. The book inside states "no portion of the book may be reproduced (...) except for brief review".

@neilarey if I am breaching any rules please feel free to remove the pics.

I had a nice offline weekend and feel refreshed. Saturday there was chores and yardwork but the weather was glorious and I got my vitamin D. On Sunday my daughter took me to a Mother's Day event with live music and yummy food. After that we took my mom out for a BBQ dinner al fresco. No cooking and no dishes!!

Today I'm in a much better headspace. Honestly I just drive myself too hard and need to make myself take a timeout.

I had to bring Pixie to the vet this morning with a suspected serious UTI. All I know at this point is that her bladder is swollen and the vet hasn't been able to get any urine for testing (because there is none). I'm very concerned. :bigsad: On top of that my daughter is sick with fever and vomiting. Not the best day even though work was okay.

Healing vibes for our little family appreciated.
Thanks bees.

Thanks @Syrius @LiteraryMatcha 🩷

Update: my daughter is feeling much better! :worried:

Pixie has a chronic condition called Feline Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD); a common, often painful condition affecting a cat's bladder and urethra, characterized by straining, blood in urine, and, crucially, potential life-threatening blockages in males.
More than you probably wanted to know. She's back at home and I'm giving her anti-inflammatory meds but she's not feeling much better yet. We're changing her diet too. Poor kitty, she looks miserable. 😿

Work has been extremely busy this week, as have things at home, so no wonder I'm feeling tired. I'm being diligent about exercise, hydration and nutrition but what I really need is a couple of weeks off!
Pixie's demeanor is a little improved but she's obviously still in pain and so we've added a mild pain medication. *sigh*

I woke up on Friday not feeling well at all. Pretty sure I've had a low fever off and on. I needed to go into work to finish payroll and then left early. I got home and took a nap!
This morning I am still feeling crummy but I'm only puttering at home and taking it easy.

Pixie is slowly improving and eating her new food. Poor baby. We are all getting weary of the constant trips to the litter box.

I've been down for the count for two days but managed to drag myself to work today. I'm not the only one fighting this wretched virus. Many of my coworkers look like the walking dead (myself included). :scull:

However I am a bit better and am hoping that some modest exercise will break up the congestion in my head. That and herbal tea. Lots of tea.

Going to work yesterday was a Bad Idea. I felt worse today and so stayed home to rest. Pixie had other plans. I started her on an antibiotic as per the vet and she vomited all over the house. Multiple times x multiple times. :verysadkitty: Poor thing.

On the bright side I received some unexpected $$$ today! Just in time to pay the vet ...:tears: Pressing on!!

Popping back in after a few busy days. I planted my veggies and got caught up on yardwork. I decided that yardwork involving shoveling, mowing, blowing and 16k+ steps each day etc was enough exercise.

Yesterday my daughter and I went to a secret swimming hole on the river. Not a tourist in sight! We left just before a monster thunderstorm hit. Lovely day.⛈️

Back to the office today. The weather has turned cold and shower-y. I like it. Except for the very strong wind. Yesterday I was outside and heard a loud CRACK ! A nearby (too close!!) tree out back was literally snapped off by the wind. 🌬️🌲 Our power went out for a bit too. Always exciting up here. :)

The auditors were onsite today. I felt kinda bad for them because the only space we had was a little room full of costumes from the school play last week. They didn't seem to mind, and fortunately didn't request too many documents from me.

Busy day and a potluck too, which was nice. There was torrential rain last evening so I don't need to water the garden for a few days. Our veggies are looking good. Now if I can only keep the birds out of the strawberries...

The annual school jogathon was today. I wasn't going to participate but I feel like it's my mission to get those 8th grade boys to RUN. They insisted on walking the first few laps but after seeing me and a 7th grade girl breeze by :tuzki-hero: they finally found their hustle. My 13yr old buddy and I did over 2 miles within our allotted time. The weather was beautiful and there were bubbles at the finish line!

I've been out of commission for a while...messed up knee has me on crutches and waiting for an MRI. So frustrating! I can't bend my knee or put much weight on it.
Then my car decided it needed repairs.

Keep going. Take the chance to gather energy. Life sometimes is like that.
I hope you don't have any pain and that you heal properly and quickly.
I also hope your car doesn't need anything expensive.

Keep going, bee. We're here to accompany you.

The knee is still swollen and painful. My insurance denied an MRI because first I have to get an X-ray and do physical therapy. Really?? It's just jumping through insurance hoops until I get the green light for the MRI. Wouldn't it be more cost effective and quicker and more conclusive to get the MRI first? Oh wait that would actually make sense so of course we can't do it that way. :onfire:

My car goes to the mechanic tomorrow. Until it's repaired I'm not able to make the hour's travel to Civilization for an X-ray. So I'm waiting for now, icing and elevating and using the blasted crutches.

I am not a patient patient. Perhaps I need to grow in this area.

Missing my workouts. Tomorrow I may do some upper body stuff. Today I'm just exhausted and frustrated.

Bright side: only 5 more school days left!!!
