Hi everyone,
I’m new to the Darebee community and just wanted to say hello! I recently decided to take my fitness more seriously, but I often struggle with staying consistent. I’ve tried going to the gym a few times, but I always feel more comfortable with home workouts.

I discovered Darebee while searching for bodyweight routines and I really like the variety of programs here. My main goal is to build strength and lose a bit of weight, but also to create a grade calculator routine that I can actually stick with long term.

For those of you who’ve been around for a while – which program would you recommend for a beginner who wants something challenging but not overwhelming? Also, any personal tips on staying motivated when the initial excitement starts to fade?

Looking forward to being part of the community and learning from all of you!

Hi hi and welcome! Foundations is a pretty good one to start with, IMO. It's got a little bit of everything. It's a 2/5 difficulty so it's not the hardest. Though I also had fun with Zero Hero, the storyline kept me interested since I wanted to see what bonkers thing was gonna happen next. XD

Hello and welcome!

I’m no expert myself, actually still a relative beginner. I joined here earlier this year. But I can share a few tips that helped me along the way:
  • Make time. Decide that you’ll set aside time for exercise. Start small (say, 15 minutes a day) and never compromise on it. That’s your golden rule.
  • Know your limits. Test what you can currently do: push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, squats, or maybe how much you can lift with a dumbbell. Don’t overdo it, choose something that feels challenging but doable.
  • Choose your path. What’s your goal: cardio, strength, weight loss, muscle building? Browse through the workouts here and pick something that fits, then stick to it during your 15 minutes or half an hour.
  • Share your progress. Post updates on the forum, people will support you, cheer you on, sometimes even poke fun (in a good way!). That feedback gives a lot of motivation.
  • Find a buddy. Pair up with another beginner at your level, you can compare notes, compete a little, and celebrate progress together.
Since a lot of beginners show up full of enthusiasm and then disappear after a while, try this plan, and after 15 days we’ll see if you’re really serious. 😉

This isn’t an official guide, just some friendly advice from my own experience. Good luck, and most importantly, have fun with it!

Hello and welcome!! I second the recommendation for Foundation. There's a light version of that program as well depending on your current fitness level and needs. I've also really been enjoying Cardio Light (there are a few different versions of this program as well). If you're into RPG programs I also second the Zero Hero recommendation.

I've heard good things about Square One, as well.

The most important things is that you find something that you enjoy. The 30 day challenges on this site are also super fun and can be motivating.

If you're wanting to have more flexibility in what you do every day the Plans are really good for that! They give you different types of workouts to do on certain days of the week and the catalog is huge so it's easy to find something that looks fun/interesting.

There is a TON on this site so I recommend just browsing through everything until you find something that looks fun/interesting. Don't be afraid to swap out what you're doing with something else if you find you're not enjoying it. There's no shame in starting a program/challenge and dropping it for one that's better for you if you need to. The most important thing is showing up and having fun.

The collections and guides on this site are also super helpful and I highly recommend checking them out.

I wish you the best of luck!
