The forest is quiet… until you arrive. Six enchanted ornaments lie hidden in the snow, each powered by a different kind of movement magic. To claim one, you must complete its challenge. Once you succeed, your ornament will appear on the great DAREBEE Tree - glowing with your effort, dedication, and a little holiday magic.

Choose the ornament that calls to you:
the Immortal Rose, the Spellbook of Strength, the Bag of Endless Gold, the Golden Apple of Agility, the Dragon Crystal, or the Magic Sword.
One ornament. One quest. One mark on the tree. Let the decorating begin!

EVENT RULES

1. Choose ONE ornament.
You may only claim a single ornament during the event.

2. Complete all required reps for that ornament.
Each ornament has its own rep requirement (squats, punches, push-ups, etc.).
You must finish the full total to claim it.

3. All reps from ANY workout or challenge count.
If the movement is the same (e.g. squats in your program, arm circles in warm-ups), it counts toward your total.

4. Only reps done during the event period count.
Past workouts do not apply.

5. Finish before the deadline.
All required reps must be completed on or before December 16th.

6. Post your completion in this thread.
When you finish, reply with: the ornament you chose, the number of reps completed and your final confirmation message. This registers your claim.

Spellbook - 500 Squats

A relic from the ancient libraries of the High Forest, this spellbook hums with dormant power. Its pages whisper only to those with unwavering resolve. Complete the squats and the book opens for you - binding your name in golden ink among the legends who proved their strength.

Golden Apple - 2,000 Arm Circles

Grown in the orchards of the gods, this apple glows with a warm, steady light. It rewards patience, consistency, and graceful effort. Only those who can keep the rhythm - round after round - earn the apple’s blessing of agility and endurance.

Dragon Crystal - 500 Push-Ups / any type

Guarded fiercely by a young fire drake, this frozen shard holds ancient dragon magic. To earn it, you must show mastery over your own body - steady, controlled, powerful. The dragon yields the crystal only to those who display true strength under pressure.

Immortal Rose - 2,000 Jacks / any type

Protected under a glass dome, this rose never wilts. It thrives on the energy of movement, blooming brighter with every heartbeat. Complete the jacks, and the rose recognizes you as a keeper of vitality - a bearer of ever-renewing spirit.

Bag of Gold - 2,000 Punches

A seemingly ordinary pouch, yet endlessly full… but only for those who earn it. Every punch adds a spark to the bag’s magic. Fill it with your power, and it rewards you with a burst of festive fortune and unshakeable determination.

Magic Sword - 500 Kicks / any type

Forged in winter starlight and tempered in enchanted snow, this blade chooses warriors of precision and control. Each kick sharpens its edge. Complete the full count, and the sword’s ribbon binds itself to you - a mark of courage and discipline.

Getting on the Tree

Once you post your completed reps, your ornament will be added to the tree within 12–24 hours.
If 24 hours pass and you don’t see your name on the tree, tag @neilarey for the quickest correction.

That looks amazing!

Now I just need to drag myself into actually choosing something. I’m a complete push-up potato, and doing them against the wall would feel like straight-up cheating (for me!). So which one of the others should I pick? I want every single one of them :tears:

In the end, Golden Apple will probably win anyway, since it keeps stalking us every other day in the monthly challenge.

Phew! I completed 20 sets of my Ornaments mini workout before 4PM (which is the middle of my day).
One set = 5 push-ups, 20 jacks, 5 squats, 20 punches, 20 arm circles, and 5 kicks
So I need to complete 100 sets in order to complete all of the challenges.

My goal was to do 20 sets per day, to complete everything by the end of the day on Sunday.
It feels great to hit my daily target so early on the first day!
But what to do now with the remainder of my day?

Double up today?
Nope!
100 push-ups in one day is a lot for me! Even though I am only doing sets of 5, I struggled on the last couple of sets.
If I did another 100 push-ups today, my arms would be non-functional tomorrow.

Take the rest of today off then?
Nope! Not going to do that either.
I front-loaded my day on purpose, knowing it would be easier to get those push-ups done early on when I was fresh.
I need to slow things down a bit now, to give my shoulders time to recover enough to face tomorrow's work. But I can still squeeze out a few more sets today. I'll space them out more than I did during the first half of the day. And let myself do some nice, cozy, restorative yoga for my evening movement. But anything extra I can do today means fewer sets I'll have to do on Sunday. (Which I'm sure I'll appreciate on Sunday. I'm likely to really be feeling this volume of push-ups by then!)

Onward, then!
I'm excited to see how beautiful our tree is going to look this year!

As a mage, I obviously need to go for the spellbook. And I kinda like squats. I hadn't really done any deep squats before (Foundation is all half squats, at least so far), but trying them, they aren't too bad. So far, 60. Should be doable -- it's nice to have something to do in random moments. I'm using this lovely simple tracker app to record them: https://samamco.github.io/track-and-graph/

Have no idea how much progress I made for the Rose today, technically from my workout (interval-based & didn't count reps). But decided that I was gonna work on the Sword, instead. Because kicks are just a lot of fun.

Knocked out 250/500 for today:
  • 2x50 alt side kicks
  • 50 alt front kicks
  • 50 low turning kicks (25/25)
  • 50 back kicks

I find myself in need of a magic sword to justly rule over my kingdom. Good thing today's bag workout included 600 turning kicks.

With this sword I shall ward off evildoers and miscreants and grant everlasting peace to everyone within our borders.

Hi! First of all, thank you very much, Darebee, for the hard work. This is also my first time participating. Since most of the workouts I've done here are cardio, and I've come to really enjoy jumping jacks, I'm going to go for the Rose.
I wish you all a fun event!
