I got some with tiny tungsten carbide spikes. They are very effective on ice but not an issue for crossing sections of pavement that may be clear. (They're noisy on clear pavement, but not an issue traction-wise.) They're also easy to pull on and off one's boots so can easily be removed if one has to go inside someplace in the midst of a hike.There are no sidewalks, and I've no idea what the roads will be like, @Laura Rainbow Dragon. I'm worried about getting to the beach itself. But if it's safe, I very much look forward to experiencing it!
