Something Remarkable

I finally have something to report!!! I did my mobility stretches and took a walk around my little pecan forest yesterday. Just up and down the main path... I also managed to make my bed, prepare a simple brunch consisting of pomegranate seeds and an omelette, and entertain a guest before my body cried, "NO MORE!" HAHAHA! I managed to delegate some tasks to some of my children and instruct my husband and one of my daughters in making dinner, which became more of a breakfast because my husband decided that my biscuits would better serve as pancakes... So, a little extra buttermilk later, we had pancakes with apple compote, pork steaks, and a salad... HAHAHA!

TODAY IS #6'S BIRTHDAY!!!

Another accomplishment yesterday! I took a 30-minute walk before bed.

TUESDAY
Breakfast - 2 peanut butter sandwiches and the leftover pomegranate seeds
Dinner - Leafy green salad with tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots, crumbled feta cheese, sunflower seeds, and cheap ranch dressing

WEDNESDAY
Breakfast - leftover salad
Dinner - Peanut butter balls loaded with cacao powder, maple syrup, shredded coconut, and sunflower seeds.

I didn't feel hungry until after my walk, and by then, it was too late in the day for me to eat. So, kids ate, I went to bed and passed out immediately. Nice, deep sleep!

No workouts yesterday, but I did spend a lot of time on my feet in the evening, with the help of some handy, dandy anti-inflammatory and pain blockers. HAHAHA!
We had what our family calls a "Celestial Fireside". It's the literal version of the term, where we make fire under a celestial event. Last night was in honor of Mars, which shone very brightly in the eastern night sky. We also saw Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter. #4 doesn't have a very good telescope, but he set it up and was able to make out Jupiter's moons. Everyone was excited about that. The missionaries came to our campfire cook-out, too. One of them seems to have spent a lot of time under an open Texas sky and helped point out some of the constellations for everyone.

Breakfast: nothing... I was hungry, but really didn't feel like eating
Dinner: A bowl of chili over corn crisps with a little sour cream, then I felt like I couldn't eat anything else... Two hours later, I snacked, though. A campfire hot dog and a Starburst lolly. (should've started with the salad... HAHAHA!)

For those with clear skies, we're about to have another planetary parade. Six planets in alignment. One source says 21st, another says 25th... Won't hurt to step outside and check either day... Feb. 28, there will apparently be another planetary parade of 7 planets, too. Unfortunately, another full alignment wont happen for over 400 years. So, if you didn't see it Dec. 2022, you missed it.

Yesterday, I managed to get a little yardwork done. A young friend of mine is helping me with my yardwork lately. So, we worked together and accomplished a decent amount. It felt great!

Breakfast: Caprese salad on a bed of romaine greens.
Snack: Tuna casserole (feeling nostalgic)
Dinner: Clear soup, hibachi shrimp and mushrooms over rice, tempura rolls

My husband took me out to eat at my favorite Japanese restaurant last night. I was exhausted by the time I got home. I was so exhausted, in fact, that upon entering my room and seeing #4 chillaxin' on my bed with his dad's laptop, I said, "I'm too tired to wait for you to leave the room. I'm takin' my pants off. So, move, or be traumatized." That was the fastest I've ever seen a kid get off a gaming device. He was out of my room by the time I had kicked off my sandals! HAHAHA!

Saturday was mostly restful. #5 brought home two more pigeons. After that, I enjoyed another small date with my husband while 3 of my kids were enjoying a STEAM club activity hosted by the local university planetarium. I was feeling pretty low afterwards, though. I ate, though I wasn't hungry, and I stayed up, though I wanted to sleep.

Breakfast - a clementine
Luncheon - Chicken and beef sandwich with pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, and a little mustard + mayo, coconut water, and an oreo brownie
Dinner - I combined a bacon and ranch salad kit with a chickpea caesar salad kit and ate about half of it

I am officially sick.

SUNDAY

I spent all day in bed, sleeping. When bedtime came, I couldn't go back to sleep. So, I stayed up a few hours playing Monopoly and Uno with my family until I was ready to conk out again.

No meals, just a few ginger drops and beef broth.

Illness is finally passing.

Yesterday, I finished recovering from my illness... No physical activity... Just went to the store to get a log splitting tool and an axe sharpener. Funny story: I wanted to get a new axe, too, but my husband insisted we didn't need one. I kept repeating loudly in an OCD manner that I couldn't seem to control, "We need a new axe. Ours is going to break," over and over again like a possessed doll. Well, when we got home, our axe broke. Same for the matches. I kept going around the store saying, "We need matches. Our lighters aren't going to last." Sure enough, this morning, my son says, "Where are the lighters," and we're down to the last one. When we discovered our predicament with the axe, I turned to my husband and said, "What are your thoughts?" He answered, "I think you were divinely inspired." So, for once, I don't feel embarrassed that I had a total "Rain Man" episode in a public place! BAHAHAHA! Afterwards, we bought some groceries, including tons of ramen for lazy day cooking... (Also, so I can store small kindling for my fireplace in the cardboard packaging.) My kids and I both agree it's a win/win!

Breakfast: Clementine, chocolate dipped bananas, two pieces of cheese
Snack: Moose tracks ice cream with caramel pecan cookies (Oddly, I hate caramel, but I really loved it yesterday)
Dinner: 2 chicken bacon ranch wraps with lettuce, blackberry soda water

I wish I could say that I remember what I did yesterday, but I don't. Sounds silly, but my mind is completely wiped. I do know that I ate some quesadillas, clementines, and veggie ramen, though.... Among other things that I'm sure I devoured, but can't remember to save my life... HAHAHA! C'est la vie!

So, more of not remembering my day clearly on Wednesday. Thursday evening, I went to the (LDS) temple with my husband and #2. I remember a clementine in the morning and grabbing some burgers off the Buy 1, Get 1 for $1 menu at Wackdonald's (anime has forever changed my outlook on fast food) after the temple. It looks like I'm going through a stint of "what did I do yesterday"? Hormones, perhaps? Methinks, I'll chalk it up to the point of womanhood I'm at in my life. Yeah... that sounds like a good excuse. HAHAHA!

I slept my morning away on Saturday, went for a little walk at some point in the afternoon, and finished my day watching a family film. Another day of very little to report and very little remembered.

Breakfast: egg and cheese quesadilla and some leftover oven-roasted potatoes
Dinner: BBQ fried chicken at my husband's request and a side of salad greens with carrot ribbons, sunflower seeds, and balsamic vinaigrette... Everyone got a small serving of rainbow sorbet and two cookies to enjoy with the film.... I sneaked some raspberry chocolate gelato.

Went to church Sunday but was feeling unwell. So, I went back home and rested. I was able to spend some time outside enjoying the vineyard, though. PRUNING SEASON IS UPON US! :hheart::ss::hheart:

I love that I am in a position to give back to others. I spent the first 15 years of my adult life dependent upon the welfare systems in my community and the government. I made a covenant with my God that, given the chance, I would give back to my community and do all in my power to help others out of the government welfare system. So, when we moved to our current home, which has a vineyard, barnyard, and small pecan forest, I decided that the produce that grows on my land would be free to anyone who wants it, and all they have to do is show up for the harvest. I must admit, even if I were perfectly healthy, the work is A LOT for just me and my family alone. So, when people show up, it becomes most symbiotic. HAHAHA!

Breakfast: Crackers with peanut butter and cheese (not at the same time, though as an acquired taste, some people actually like combining the three)
Dinner: Chicken and veggie noodle soup, with extra broth because broth is so delightful!

Monday, I finally managed to do more than just surviving... I got some chores done... a couple... like two chores... incomplete... HAHAHA! I didn't do much walking, but I did get in some good stretches.

Breakfast: Egg Sandwiches
Snack: My husband spoiled me with some ice cream... MOOSE TRACKS! It tastes so good topped with peanut butter and hazelnuts
Dinner: Leftover chicken and veggie noodle soup.

Tuesday, I had a nice, 30 minute walk. Though, it was very slow going. It's a wonder I'm not back up to 300lbs with how little mobility I have! I wish I could remember what I ate, but I can't. In case I forget tomorrow what I did today... this morning, I had some tuna sandwiches, which come with a story...

#6 was complaining about her skin, which got us on the conversation about the use of amino acids in lotions to repair skin, which got us on the topic of soft tissue damage and repair, which brought us to the topic of my father, which brought us to the topic of the importance of collagen in our diets. I explained to her about collagen, and how I put collagen in my protein powder. I explained to her that my protein mix isn't good for all foods, but best served with seafood and other complimentary foods because of the subtle hint of flavor it gives off. I suggested a few ideas, including tuna salad (the stuff in mayo, for those who eat their tuna in a green salad). I told her that whenever I make tuna salad for the family, I add two scoops of my protein powder. She got really excited because she loves tuna salad and asked if we could have some for breakfast. So, for breakfast, I made some tuna salad, added my protein powder and WAAAAY more dill than any two people could eat (that inhuman monster owes me a new bottle of dried dillweed!), and served it on bread.

I truly love the fact that I can converse with my children about anything and everything... Even the arguments! If your child doesn't shut down on you when you try to talk to them, can hold a healthy debate against you, and accepts your influence when you are right, it's evidence to me of a healthy relationship.

So, this morning's accomplishments, since I can't seem to remember yesterday: I made my bed and put away ALL of the laundry (Mums of many children, I welcome your awe and jealousy... BAHAHAHA!) <<< Don't worry, it'll return to normal within the hour.... I had an important conversation and culinary experience with my youngest, took the time to stretch and do a small walkabout outside, wrote a letter, and practiced my penmanship in cursive.

Now, I am only waiting for #6 to finish sorting her own laundry so that we can play a PC game together (If not Minecraft, likely a horror genre Roblox game), and this evening, I will be doing some family history research. Otherwise, today is expected to be very restful. :D

Sorry to say, but my brain is wiped again.... HAHAHA! As for today... I slept in, and aside from rousing my children out of their hobbit holes with a song and dance from the Godfather of Soul, I can't recall if I did anything else this morning... Some days are gonna be like this. HAHAHA! We'll see if tomorrow's any better...

Another day of struggling to recall yesterday... I got in my physical therapy exercises, took a decent walk, and relocated #5's pigeons. #2 had an accident with his finger while working on a moped and went into shock... Fortunately, it did not negatively impact his heart this time. My husband saw that I was shaken up. So, he took me out to eat and talk in the car away from the kids. For dinner #2 ordered a pizza for his siblings. Yesterday evening was supposed to be another temple trip, but my body wasn't up for it. So, my husband and #2 went instead. I feel so blah after yesterday's menu... nothing healthy

Lunch: DQ Alaskan salmon sandwich and fries (was in the mood or fish and chips, and that was the closest available option), mint brownie DQ blizzard
Dinner: Cheesy breadsticks with marinara sauce for dipping (I saved the pizza for my kids)

I know it's hard to believe, given my perfect track record... (sarcasm, for the literal-minded,) but I totally forgot to do my check-ins over the weekend. HAHAHA!

Don't remember what I did on Friday, but on Saturday, while my children were at the uni planetarium for STEAM club, my husband took me on a small date to the botanical gardens. I've been hurting like hell from it, but I feel like it was very much worth it. I'm grateful that I could get out and enjoy the fair weather we've been having. We were also able to discuss important future plans away from the children's prying ears. So, I was very grateful.... Ah, and #3 did all-district band... don't know if she made it, though...

Sunday, I rested until mid-afternoon. I missed church, but my husband and sons attended to me. It's so wonderful to hear my men sing! We fed the missionaries and a family friend last night. Afterwards, I went back to my bed.

Dinner: sloppy joes over oven-roasted potatoes, caesar salad, peppered corn and sweet peas
Dessert: store-bought gluten-free caramel chocolate chip cookies and milk.

This morning, I went to the dentist and was declared perfect with all 2s and 3s and no problems. My kids were hungry, but since I'm still in pain today, and they're old enough to feed themselves, we made peanut butter balls together and opened a bag of pistachios. If they want more, they've known how to cook independently since they were 8... they won't starve.

About the peanut butter balls... my daughter made some brownies last night. So, I used the leftover chocolate frosting, stirred it in with the peanut butter and some protein powder, rolled them around in sunflower seeds, et voila! Peanut butter balls! A slightly healthier end to a very unhealthy ingredient, and my girls were content.

Dinner tonight: I took the leftover ingredients and made something of a shepherd's pie with it all. So, tonight, I'm having shepherd's pie and more caesar salad.

That's it... Aside from a few stretches later today, I don't think I'll be doing much else except sleeping. I'm freakishly tired again. Today's a good day, though. So, I'm grateful. :hheart:

I stop on Darebee only to feel frozen. What was I here for? What should I say? Do I even remember what I did today? Did I even do anything worth mention?

Well, after a week of that, I can honestly say, "No, not really." HAHAHA! So, a recap of the week based on what I recall before my word flow once more becomes blocked within my mind: Most every day, I have done my physical therapy stretches and walked my property. I've been unwell and bedridden 4 times this week, but I make an effort ESPECIALLY on those days to get in some mobility.

As for my diet.... Frankly, it's all over the place. I don't want to eat. Then, when my energy is low, all I crave are high-caloric foods... So, I go all day without eating, grab a scoop of peanut butter one day. Crunch on dry ramen, then drink broth the next day. have a dry piece of bread, regret it, eat some fruit and cheese, regret the dairy, not eat again for the rest of the day, etc... And today: I slept all day. Only just woke up. My family worked together to make me some lentil soup. So, I'll be eating it... Don't really wanna eat, though.

I'll try to be more on top of my check-ins... My mind goes blank often. So, who knows what the future holds. For what is perceived good or ill, it's beautiful, though. That much, I always know.

TODAY'S GOAL:

Physical Therapy :v:
Eat two decent meals :x:
Arrange a week's worth of school assignments :x:
Stay awake more than half a day :v:

Figured it's easier to put that out there sooner to check mark later than to try to remember later... Though, the chances of me remembering to even do this much aren't guaranteed... HAHAHA!

Finish school assignments :x:
Repair my nightly sleep schedule :v:

With how tired I am, I sleep a lot during the day... Only problem is that it's affecting my actual bedtime, which affects when I wake up... It's becoming a vicious cycle. So, today, along with finishing prepping my kids' assignments, I hope to get to bed at a decent time and wake up when I'm supposed to. This is going to be a HUGE challenge for me because when I'm tired, I'm "toddler tired". I can drop and sleep anywhere.

Shopping for the upcoming weekend :x:

Repair my wake/sleep schedule :v:

Looks like the only thing I managed to do right yesterday was to repair my sleep schedule... Mostly... My sleep schedule will take time to repair, but I'm content with the steps I've taken last night and this morning. So, I'm calling it a win.

I've given up on the lesson plan for now. My children are apprehensive about it. So, I'm going back to the drawing board to find a better learning solution for them. My greatest goal in homeschooling my children is to encourage a joy in learning, a growth mindset and determination through challenges, and help them pace themselves in a world that will drive them like cattle. If they don't have these basic fundamentals in their academic arsenal, it doesn't matter how simple the work is, they will have no drive, no sense if individuality, and no work ethic. They will just become cogs in a giant, despised, and poorly maintained machine.

I'll be going to South Carolina for an overnight stay this weekend... Since half of my kids are adults, I figured I'd just provide some food and enjoy myself. So, my kids will be enjoying some junk food and binge watching movies, and I'll be eating out and getting much needed quality time with my spouse.

So... I completely forgot about shopping. HAHAHA! I tried to eat two decent meals yesterday... The first meal made me so very sick, and it lasted the entire day... C'est la vie! It's my goal to not be too sick to attend the (LDS) temple this evening. I find great joy in ancestry work. While I'm out, I hope to remember groceries for my kids this weekend... Ready my house for a party :x:

Well, #3 has decided to join Mary Kay, and with that comes a party. So, it's time to dust off my inner socialite... I'm sure it's there somewhere deep inside... And make my house ... well, I would say sparkle and shine, but I'd be content to just not have any oatmeal and jam on the ceiling (don't ask, no one knows how it got there)... Speaking of #3, she recently did the Thunderstruck burpees challenge. She said, "It was fun, but EXHAUSTING!" Tagging @Sólveig because we all know how much they LOVE burpees!!!

#3 is also one of my most musically inclined children. Can learn ANY instrument in just a few short months and nearly pitch perfect. My child who can learn any instrument in less than a day and IS pitch perfect has no real drive for it, though... BAHAHAHA! She'd rather be a mangaka or animator. #3 is actually jealous of #6 because of how much better she is at everything #3 loves, but there's a lot of love between them because of their shared bond and talents. They're always performing together, usually with #6 providing acapella acoustic affect for #3's vocals (which #6 prefers, despite having a PERFECT voice). Even as I speak, #6 is brushing up on her artistic talents. She never seems to stop and has a really unique form... and an obsession with the horror genre... HAHAHA! I love how my children are all so varied, yet they compliment each other so well when they work together. When they get together, it's like watching tiny miracles happen in my life over and over and over again.

Yesterday, I only drank half the desired amount of water, and while I did pretty well adhering to my sleep schedule, I stayed up and slept in an hour. As for the party... I'm torn between my ADHD, which functions best under the influence of procrastination, and my Autism that crumbles under pressure and needs to know everything MONTHS in advance... Right now, AuDHD is at war with itself over the house. BAHAHAHA!

Today, I have an entire day to myself, and the entire house to myself. Methinks, I'll take advantage of it and throw everything away should my binge cleaning hyperfocus ever awaken. For now, however, I'm relaxing and enjoying my free time while ALL of my kids help their Opa manage his property. I hope this becomes an excellent work ethic building experience for them all.

Not feeling well lately... would explain a few things... Looks like my body's on another downward spiral. So, I'm taking care of myself today and will get back to check-ins when my mind feels well enough to leave "survival mode"... Just gotta say, today's really beautiful, and I'm so happy. It's freezing and cloudy, but it's beautiful. I have such a lovely view from my window of the outside world! :hheart:

OKAY!!! No clue what I did Friday, but I did get some yardwork done today. We burned the vines that were trimmed back last month in a MASSIVE bonfire and enjoyed pizza and s'mores. EVERYTHING hurts, I want to throw up, and I feel like things are wriggling around under my skin again, but I had SO MUCH FUN!!! I really miss being mobile all the time.

Aside from that, got in some physical therapy this morning, and things have been improving since I altered my diet slightly. Still feel like I did too much too soon, though. I'm DEFINITELY spending the rest of the day in my bed! It's highly likely that I won't be able to walk at all tomorrow, but today was very much worth it!

I'm very grateful for the missionaries in my church right now. They helped clear the vineyard. They worked as hard as they played! HAHAHA! It's great when young adult teens know how to have fun and work hard. They're very well-rounded. Kudos to their mums!

If I can, I hope to end my day with a short walk after dinner. If not, I can just take comfort in knowing that I got in my physical therapy and was very active this morning.

Well, I didn't walk last night... No big shocker there... but I am able to walk today! Very happy about that. I really thought I'd spend all day today crippled...

This morning, I did some physical therapy and went to church. This afternoon, I came home and had some creamy garlic pasta with sunflower and hemp seeds and a little extra parmesan cheese... Love me some comfort food! After a little rest, my evening will be dedicated to tabletop games with the family. Dinner will be spaghetti squash and chicken meatballs with a side romaine salad. Ah, I also have two snacks... before lunch, I had two 90% cacao pieces dipped in peanut butter... just as a filler to tide me over because I skipped breakfast and knew that if I didn't snack then, I'd end up eating twice what I aught to for lunch... And this afternoon's snack will be my almond coco loco yogurt cup... basically, turning whole plain Greek yogurt into mildly sweetened vanilla yogurt and adding almond slivers, shredded coconut, and mini chocolate chips... It's my ice cream when I'm trying to avoid eating ice cream but REALLY REALLY REALLY want ice cream. HAHAHA!

Ah... I was also thinking about yesterday's s'mores... something that my mum taught my kids that I feel is a fun snack, even if it's not considered healthy, is to buy fudge stripe cookies instead of the graham crackers and chocolate bars... Putting a caramelized marshmallow between two fudge striped cookies is a total upgrade, in case anybody wants to try it... just sayin'... ;)

This evening, I have a goal to attempt to walk again, assuming my body has recovered enough by then... otherwise, I'll just stick to my usual physical therapy routine.
