Skipped Daily Walk. Skipped the Burpees. It was a rainy day, and it is still raining, inside my bedroom!

And it's not a heavy rain at all. Not even electric. It's just a normal rain that wouldn't even fill a bucket. The weakest the rain, the more likely it is for the leaks to show up.

But yeah, I didn't skip the Burpees because of rain. The walk I did, but the Burpees was out of pure laziness. I'll have to admit, I didn't want to do them today at all...

Anyway, 72 hours passed, so I figured my phone dried off completely. I turned it on, and it looks to be in pretty good shape! No data loss, no weird bugs, no screwed up visuals... It's working just the same way as before it took a swim. A bit laggy at first, but that's Whatsapp hogging all resources to download text messages. Meta seems to be more interested in getting as much data as possible, it's unsurprising they aren't interested of optimizing their software. It's alright, though. Google never optimizes Chrome anyway, unless it's to cut off people blocking ads.

Tangent. The phone works!

I also spent the day figuring things out with my writing. Just finished a session earlier than usual (thank you very much, leak that is directly on top of the desk, and can move to be on top of the laptop if I'm "lucky"), and I'm very disappointed that I was right on the zone when I had to end it. Seriously, I have no issues with rains. It's the electrical problems and the leaks that I have the most troubles dealing with. Other than that, I love rainy days. It's cold, and it's comfy.

No Qi Gong due to the rain, though.

Quick tip for leaks in your ceiling: To prevent water from pooling up there, drill a hole into the ceiling where the water is leaking. This'll reduce the effects of water damage until such time as you are able to repair the roof where it's leaking in through.

Well, I had many opportunities to write today. I didn't take them. Pretty much a day of doing nothing.

Not completely a waste, though. I did a few productive things. I just wish it was writing...

Maybe I'll get something done tonight, maybe I won't. I'll have to see.

On the flip side, I've gotten myself into studying photographs. I'd like to try on a new subject that's hard for me. I need to do some preparation first, but I need to get some ideas. I feel like I'm losing my ability, though. I haven't taken photos in such a long time...

I thought I'd slack off today, but damn! The writing session was fun, if a bit frustrating. I had to remind myself that it doesn't need to be perfect now every single time I wrote out a line, but I almost did 4K. I do put big numbers in NaNoWriMo, so this is a good sign. I'll end this short story tomorrow, since only one scene is left to do, and I'll outline another one. I believe the thing that made me slow down this is the fact that I didn't have an outline. That certainly made it harder, but hey, this first draft is something I can EASILY fix, especially since it is in my birth language. Editing is a breeze when it is in Spanish. English, though, I need some help with grammar.

I've also done some research on photography today. Still not doing it since I need to do a bit of an inexpensive investment, thankfully. Not equipment, just some cheap props and ideas. I'll probably work it out next month or on December. That'll sort itself out; it's not urgent.

D&D day. We're almost done. Only a couple of sessions (probably one to three) to end our current (and longest) arc so far before we finally start facing off the BBEG. Our characters are already at 17th level, and I'm REALLY close to have a couple of spells I'd like to use in the end fight.

Honestly, I'm going to miss that bard, though I plan to use her again to actually write a high fantasy grimdark novel, but perhaps I'd build her differently, like, instead of going for College of Valor, I'd go for College of Swords. I went for Valor due to the Bardic Inspiration bringing extra damage on attacks, and while that's useful, I noticed that Bardic Inspiration works better for adding numbers to attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks, as it's mostly used for that. And Magic? She does cast some spells, but she seems to fight more dual wielding her Rapier and her Quarterstaff (she has the Dual Wielder feat).

A lot of stuff needs to be put in paper, though, and all I have are rough sketches of worldbuilding. At least it's the most important sketches; the ones that I need, and not everything. There's plenty of memorable characters I came up with; one of them is something I was writing, but I put off to focus on other things? I should go back to her and keep up with her story. For now, all I need is to prepare the quests that remain and start wrapping things up. I'm having the feel, though... the same one that I always have when I finish NaNoWriMo.

I'm actually very hyped for it. I'd like to start now; seriously. I can't wait for November to come and start working on that project. I feel it's the best way to introduce my world; so much better than anything I have written before. We'll see how this goes. And I hope it goes great!

Well, this was a fun day. I spent the entire day trying to not be distracted by plot bunnies and focused mostly in worldbuilding. I decided to follow a recommendation, and now I'm all in for this. I'll do another test story to see how it works. It's an idea I've got this afternoon, and I didn't develop until I finished fixing some stuff. The more I write, the more I realize I shouldn't have put aside the urban fantasy.

It was also another fun day working out too. I had to trick my brain into Burpees. Even though I did the three from the Monday workout, I still wanted to do the 100, but I didn't want to... until I told myself "yeah, let's do two to get to five and that's it." It didn't happen. Once I dropped down, it was straight for the first set of 25. It's all about starting!

Today was quite a bit of a busy day. I didn't write. I'm not sure if I'll write after posting, but I'll try.

I tried playing the guitar twice today, Morning was technique practice, and afternoon was learning a song. Since I'm almost done with Ponce's Prelude 2, I decided to finish brushing it off. Morning practice is just escales, chords, rhythm patterns, fingerstyle studies, all that stuff. I was supposed to spend only 30 minutes in the morning, but somehow, it got to be 2 hours.

I'm not mad about it, though. I figured it was going to happen, so I didn't care. I think I can do this on a daily or semi-daily basis. If I can't do it one morning or one afternoon, it's alright, since I already did it at least once that day. I'll see how I can squeeze a drawing in some of those times, even if it is a practice sketch. D&D has been inspiring me to draw, and I already have a character portrait for my Barbarian, however, there's one sidekick in our current campaign that I can't get my head off.

Anyway...

I'm sorry. I can't resist. Seeing Monkey! as a workout of the day was an invitation to do it. And I could have gone for 10 sets without rest, but stopped at 7. I think next time I will go Super Saiyan. I skipped the Burpees, though, but that's because Monkey! had them. No Basic Burpees on Monkey!, though. They were good old Full Burpees instead. Not a bad way to train on a day that wasn't supposed to be a combat day, but I'm not complaining. It is a very fun workout, after all.

It's actually getting better, though today wasn't a Cardio day. Still, I'm fine with today being a... "rest" day. I thought I'd do things this afternoon, but nope. I went completely lazy, and didn't get anything done.

But, there was some writing and editing done. In fact, I wrote as soon as I got off the bed. I had an amazing dream about a city; one of those dreams that I hated myself for waking up from. Still, it was all so detailed, and I could remember everything, even the fauna and a possible real life location of such amazing place.

Two days of practicing guitar twice a day too. It's going good so far, even though there wasn't much progress. I can't say there has to be progress in just two days! I never practiced like this before. It was usually once a day, not twice. Hours get crazy, though. I say "I'll practice for 30 minutes," and then I realize it's been two hours!

Anyway. I'm going to bed now. There are more things to be done tomorrow.

I guess I'll keep doing Daily Walk. I finished the challenge today, and I'll do my walks.

Not much of a productive day. I woke up late, and the time got squeezed. I did some things, but none of them were really much productive. I skipped the guitar, though. I think I cut my finger while playing yesterday, and it still hurts a bit. Tomorrow will be better, so I can play.

I'm not sure if I'll write tonight, though.

Alright, I haven't finished writing. I did some outlines, and worked some stuff, but I still want to write. I'm not sure how deep I'd go tonight, but I'll work on it for some time.

Nope. I'm not writing tonight. Nuh-uh. I am not writing tonight. Nope.

All of the sudden, a weird noise came out of my laptop. It seemed to be an electricity issue, because it came from the power supply. I plugged in the battery and turned it on, and there was no noise. But when I put the brick, there was a lot of noise. So, with the battery, I backed up everything, and I mean everything... and then I think I drained it. I thought my USBs broke, but nope, so I plugged back on, at the risk of that noise coming back... and it hasn't, yet.

It's been 20 minutes, and I'm still waiting for that noise. I am not writing because I don't want to lose any progress I do today. So I backed up everything.

If I write, it'll be on the phone. I'm not pushing up my luck too far.

If nothing happens tomorrow, it'll be just a scare.

@Laura Rainbow Dragon Thanks! And thankfully, it is ok. It was either a bug, or some dust particle, or something that got lodged inside, and then got out once I moved the computer all over, plugging in and out the battery, and doing checks, and all of that. It is working as usual now, since the only noises it's making is the usual purring of the fancooler and the hard drive that's... actually very quiet. It always had those noises, even after fixing it when the HDD busted six months after I bought it.

So, I guess I might be writing tonight? I'm not sure. I'm a bit scared, but I might end up writing. There's not much time left tonight anyway.

I woke up late, and I didn't work out, so it was a rest day. No D&D day, or more like, stay-at-home D&D day. Two members of the group couldn't make it, so I played with the third one (our Monk, formely Fighter, R.I.P.) online. It was just one of those sidequests I put on inspired by the loyalty system from Mass Effect 2, and it took... way longer than I thought it would. And as I was thinking about doing Burpees... the water came, way earlier than usual.

It felt odd today. It was an odd day.

@Froud Thanks :welcome:

:cutter::loveit:
(lol sorry I had to... but really though, that sounds awesome!)

I'm using the Sidekick system found in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (TCE), but instead of making my players creating their own Sidekick PCs, I created NPCs following TCE's instructions for sidekicks, each one with their own backstory. Some of them were proposed by the players, and one of them is maintained by the Wizard. At first I didn't think about putting loyalty quests, but seeing how the story went, I decided to put them up just to remember my players that there are high stakes in this campaign, and all decisions have consequences, even though the players have plot armor, unless they remove it themselves through their own volition, like it happened to our Fighter.

This last quest we played was inspired by Tali's loyalty mission, though. I ended up putting Mass Effect's 2 OST throughout the entire session, mainly Tali's theme.

Well, I found out what the problem was, and it was a complete coincidence: it's the CPU fan rattling up, and it seems to be a common issue with old ThinkPads. All it needs it's some oil, but I don't have any, so it is an easy fix. I genuinely thought I had a literal bomb in my desk. PSUs blowing up is something common in this country, and I already had one exploding back in the early 10s due to a power surge. Thankfully, it's nothing. The rattle goes away if I turn off the laptop for like an hour. The most strenuous activity I do in this thing is watching crap on YouTube. The noise isn't bad, it's just annoying as hell, and scary too.

Anyway, my head hurts a little, so I might not write tonight. It's not like I didn't write yesterday, but I did do something different today. In order to end this long arc that we've doing in D&D, I mapped out the main "dungeon" we have to explore, and all that remains is creating the two bosses I plan to have at the end. Then, it's just more loyalty missions, since some are connected to this arc (yes, I railroad my players without them knowing) and... I think that's it. I'll be doing some writing on my phone though, if this headache goes away.

I think I did too much today. It was a stressful day, of sorts. I got into a fight, then there's problems at the house again... I didn't take my walk because of that. Tomorrow, I'll finally be applying for a job at a high school, so I'm having high hopes for that.

Oh, the SS on Monkey! means Super Saiyan:

10 sets. Not a single moment to take a break. Full Burpees. I ended up feeling like the Monkey Capoeira or Monkey Kung Fu guy from Bloodsport while transitioning from Climbers to Punches.

@OJJJEM Well, I woke up to a phone call from my dad that could have turned into a fight if it wasn't because I remained quiet, and let his rant go all the way through. He always gets angry about things that have absolutely no influence upon his life.

No headache so far, though. I think I can do Burpees today after class.

I believe in you, Peter Pan! (Seriously, Julia Roberts was such an amazing Tinkerbell!) I know it's hard to deal with all that family drama, and to have to deal with it so frequently... You don't often get a break from it, and that just wears you down. I hope for a happier tomorrow than you had today, and I will continue to every day for you.

I lied. There were no Burpees.

It was a busy day. Morning was a waste of time. Aside from the nasty phone call, I pretty much went to school only to be told to come back tomorrow because there was a meeting, and no one could attend me. Then, I had class on the afternoon, and even though my student was satisfied, I wasn't. I only took a walk to come back home to write... instead, I got distracted, and lazy... and I have to wake up early tomorrow, and it's late.

Yeah, I could have done Burpees during that downtime, but the sun arleady set. I tried to do Magician at LVL III without stopping, but ended up doing only LVL I, breaking into a 2 minute rest or more between sets 2 and 3 because I got uncontrollable hiccups. Today was short, really, very very short. I didn't realize it was this late until I ran apt update on my Laptop. I think I almost broke it, though I can't tell if it'll be an easy fix considering that I never messed with grub before. Nothing happened anyway. I rebooted, and it booted fine. Still, I have a live USB. If I break the software, I can fix it without the need to format stuff.

It is weird to have LibreOffice named as LibreOffice Start Center on my app list, though. I was already used for it to be right on top.

Alright, so there were Burpees today, and I hope there are more tomorrow... and some other things, because today was pretty much a waste of time.

I didn't sleep much last night, so I spend much of the day sleeping. On the bright side, I went to the school, and they almost hired me on the spot. As soon as they saw that I can speak three languages (Portuguese needs some practice) they just went right in and offered me two grades to work with. I'm still not hired because my papers need to be sent out to the Ministry of Education, but they will do it on Tuesday and then I should expect a call from them. I'm hoping to be hired because I could use the money, plus not having deadlines and stuff is making life boring. I need some responsabilities and, of course, see what comes out of this.

The school wants to form a band, but that's a hard thing to do without any instruments. I can do an a capella group or a choir, or both, though. Even the deaf can sing without the voice, as long as they have hands.

Anyway, I'm off to writing now. I'll edit tomorrow, in case I make some progress.

Oh, I'm so happy for you!!! Go where inspiration drives you! Who knows, it may just drive you towards forming that band after all! I wonder if a drive can be held from the USA to send hand-me-down instruments to Venezuela...

No... Writing. Or, at least, not putting words after words. Last night, I fixed my stuff to migrate back from Manuskript to a bunch of files... and edited one character...

Today... I decided to reduce the amount of villains for next session to 1, considering that it's painful and it takes way too long to make a party of them... I'll save the others for later.

Skipped the Burpees because I was focused on that. Then, I took a nap, and took a walk, and before I realized it, I didn't know it was evening. I had to pull an emergency, thus the Everyday Workout saved the day. Tomorrow I'll do the Friday workout. I don't know why I have DOMS on my buttocks, but I do.

I even skipped Qigong.

Well, I lost my progress with Discworld, and I've been wanting to start over The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic, so I'll give it another read to those. Plus, I'm going to read Ringworld... for research purposes. I noticed mixed reviews about it, but I'm not really interested in the story elements, but rather the worldbuilding itself. I mean, it's what inspired Halo the same way Blade Runner inspired Mass Effect. I already went for the first chapter, and all I'm having in my head is 80s sci-fi aesthetics and tropes. Again, I don't care whether the book is good or not; I'm researching it to see what lessons can I learn from it, the same way the Halo writers did back when the CE was being developed.

I got an idea... that was already developed before. Nevertheless, I need the help of those who did it before me to see what can I do, what they didn't do, and what I can improve on it.

No Friday workout since I had to go out out of the blue, but there was Burpees! Careful Burpees. For some reason, my right arm hurts, so it was difficult to Push-up, but I did it... carefully!

No writing so far, but that might change. I did homebrew a boss for my session after this Sunday's, though, and I loved it. In fact, I want to make an entire line of similar constructs in the future, for another campaign... or a book.

@Sif_Shepard Thankfully, there is a chart that tells you where to start and how to follow. I don't have with me right now, but it pretty much sums up that Discworld is an Anthology of series that don't really follow a timeline. Just pick a series, read it, and once you're done, read other series.

You can also read the books in the same order of release, though it is recommended to read them in series instead. Pratchett himself recommends to start with Sourcery (#3 on Rincewind's series), but Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic are so great that it's best to not miss them. Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic are #1 and #2 on Rincewind's series, and they are pretty much one book together.

I second the recommendation to read by series. My favorites were the watch novels, and the witches novels. I think that I'd recommend starting with Wyrd Sisters for the Witches, though.
Oh and Moist von Lipwig. Especially the first one, Going Postal.

I usually recommend starting either with Guards Guards (towards detective / cop stories; life of the city stories), Wyrd Sisters (witches stories), or Going Postal (hmm, life of the city stories again? conman turned more legit businessman stories?). It narrows it down greatly. But the chart's good for an ensemble view.

Sorry for jumping into the thread but I saw a mention of Discworld and I couldn't help myself, I wanted to help more people get into it if I can. (Like, not to talk above you Sólveig, but to add something to what you already said)

Seconding for a recommendation for the witches Discworld novels. Love me some granny weatherwax! (Although I think the first Pratchett book I read was Mort which got me hooked for sure.) Pretty much if you go with anything that you think sounds interesting it'll probably be pretty good. Pratchett was a great writer.

Wow, now today was busy. I didn't even get to read. I spent the entire day organizing everything, and I mean, EVERYTHING.

There is still work to be done, however, the biggest things I needed to take out of Manuskript were already done. Don't get me wrong, I love the software, but I can't get used to it for some reason. I think Obsidian spoiled me quite a lot, and there are many times in which all I need is a single document. It's a pain to select individual folders and mark them as "not compile." Besides, for some reason, it's glitching on me. If I create a new document and I move it above another document that already existed, it will destroy the contents of said document, pretty much cloning the new document. I already lost data that way, and thankfully it was easy to recover.

I didn't even get to write either, and I was very close to it. I'm not sure if I will tonight...

More Burpees today, and an emergency combat workout, because wow, it was a long day.

Thanks for the guide and all the recommendations!
Yeah there's a joke sometimes that if you say "Discworld" or "I don't know where to begin with Discworld", all the Pratchett fans come out of the woods or out of anywhere with their recommendations. Pretty true in my experience. I have a friend who has a chart of the series pinned in the first page of his main social media profile just in case.

Just to continue the Discworld-discussion, I think any book is entertaining on its own enough so that someone new to the world can basically start with any of them. My first one was Hogfather which I found lying around in my sister's kitchen on a Christmas day, and ever since then I just pick up and read whichever Pratchett book happens to fall into my hands.
