@Laura Rainbow Dragon Hold on, I have a medical professional here-- His name is... Dr. Cooper. He's kind of short and he doesn't speak English (not out loud, but somehow I can still understand what he's saying, it's kind of like a Pokemon situation) but he IS saying that eventually you should see a non-him doctor, but in the meantime to have plenty of water and give Shelby many hugs. Shelby apparently has a lot of college credits in nursing, so she'll be a good companion.

Also rest assured, I am full of rage for both of us. I hate to admit I've been consumed by it. But also, if somehow y'all can boycott American goods... go for it. I am telling you, as an American, do it. I will not hold it against you. You have the right to make your financial choices.

I want to also say, with all of the hate that's coming from the nation I unfortunately live in right now - This journal is a safe space for you. All races, creeds, sexualities, genders, are welcome here. The government may hate you for how you were born. I will not.

1,346 - Wondering what the Hell to do now that I'm not doing Iron Arms anymore. I think I flew too close to the sun without knowing. No worries, I'm not like, in agony, it was just dumb of me to try due to the accident. I do want to try and do Matan's nice secret santa for me so I did 3 rounds of the toe tap things today.

736 - Few minutes in!

Good thing - TACO BELL TUESDAY LET'S GOOOOO

Cooper status - Fluff boy is proud of you all. And he loves you. @NightWolf714 and he knows he is loved, because every time he is loved, he gains +1 fluff. "But Fish, wouldn't that just, make him a biblically accurate fluffball?" He is, our mortal eyes cannot perceive and our mortal minds cannot comprehend his true form.

@Laura Rainbow Dragon From the experience of those around me, it usually takes two weeks for the symptoms of concussion to show themselves.
So there's usually not much of a point in going to a doctor sooner unless you have severe symptoms.
Because within the first two weeks they always tell you it's just a mild concussion.
My partner was told it was all mild and then spent a couple of months being so sensitive to light he could barely do anything.
But he had far worse memory symptoms in that first week as well, so I really hope you've just had a minor shake
I would definitely hold off on impact exercises for a bit though.
So I guess that means my non-medically trained opinion is: More Gentle Dancing :dkitty:

@f1shie You are such a lovely person, and I want you to know that this thread is always a welcoming place to be!
The Cooper updates and your wonderful self tend to make me smile :sendinglove:

Thank you @Maegaranthelas .

Here, because we have a shortage of family physicians, it can take a long time to be seen for non-emergency reasons. I could get a same-day appointment at a walk-in clinic. (My crampons arrived yesterday. So I think I could walk to one safely now.) I just don't think it would be helpful. Visiting a walk-in clinic would mean spending time in a busy waiting room during a time of year when many of the other patients there likely have infectious diseases. Plus the staff there are very busy and necessarily trying to push patients through as quickly as they can. I did a more thorough self-exam of my concussion symptoms than I would get at a clinic!

But if my doctor thinks my fall was serious enough to warrant diagnostic imaging, I need him to order that. A doc at a walk-in clinic could order it too. But my doc could do it based off of a phone consult. And then the results would be sent to him, and he'd discuss them with me via another phone consult. Also: my own doctor knows I'm not a hypochondriac who ties up medical resources for the slightest sniffle. If I tell him I hit my head hard enough I'm concerned, he will take me more seriously than would a stranger in a clinic. I'll get better service from the physician who knows me, and without exposing myself to a room full of people with colds, flu, and covid.

My doc is busy too though. If he thought I needed to be seen right away, he'd have his staff tell me to go to Emergency. If he thought a phone convo with him was more appropriate, he'd likely call me on Sunday. (He likes to go into the clinic on weekends when it's closed to make his phone calls when he knows he won't be disturbed by other things.) But I'd need to call during business hours and talk to his staff to get a message to him that I even have concerns.

If I call today and my doc (or his nurse) says, "You have a mild concussion. Take two weeks off from high impact activities. Then you'll be fine." And I take the two weeks off and experience no further symptoms, awesome! If I do experience new symptoms later, however, it will be better for me that I called initially today. (My doc would have a better sense of the timeline of events. I'd already be on his radar as a patient who might potentially need attention, which could help me to get past his gatekeepers next time if things do progress in a negative direction.)

So I guess that means my non-medically trained opinion is: More Gentle Dancing :dkitty:
More dancing is always a good thing. (And something I can do without impacts and shaking if I curate my song list accordingly.)

Thank you, Dr. Cooper. I will call my family physician's clinic and see what he says. (Please see my above response to Maegaranthelas for more details.)

Also rest assured, I am full of rage for both of us. I hate to admit I've been consumed by it. But also, if somehow y'all can boycott American goods... go for it. I am telling you, as an American, do it. I will not hold it against you. You have the right to make your financial choices.
A lot of Canadians are already avoiding buying American because of Trump's antics. Most provinces are poised to immediately pull US liquor from their shelves if tariffs go into effect. (I think BC already did it, based solely on the threat.) And federally our government is working on better diversifying our trade relations (i.e.: doing more business with countries that are not the United States)--a process that will continue now, no matter what your POTUS does next, because he's proven to us that we can no longer trust your country to be an ethical trading partner.

And it's all so stupid. And sad. Canada has been your friend.

When Iranian radicals invaded the American Embassy in Tehran in 1979, Canadian diplomats in Iran gave shelter to the six who were able to escape the Embassy. They sheltered them in their own homes, putting their own lives and the lives of their families at risk, for three months! During that time, it was close cooperation between the Canadian diplomats in Iran, the Canadian government back in Ottawa, and CIA agents in the United States that ultimately effected the rescue operation that brought those six Americans safely home.

When the United States was attacked in its own country on September 11, 2001, it was Canadians who gave shelter to the thousands of American citizens who were unable to return home due to the necessity of closing the American airspace. Over 250 flights were diverted to Canada that day. Approximately 6700 passengers were stranded in Gander alone. Gander. A tiny little community in northeastern Newfoundland whose own population was only ~ 10K people at the time. But our American friends were in need. So Canadians once again stepped up. Schools and non-essential businesses in Gander were closed so that citizens young and old could volunteer to help. Canadians provided food and shelter, clothing, hot showers, beds (in some cases in their own homes) to those stranded passengers. We provided communication services via banks of free-to-use telephones. Local pharmacies filled prescriptions for the stranded passengers at no cost.

When natural disasters strike your country, Canadians are there to help too. Canada provides expensive equipment and highly-trained personnel to help fight forest fires in your country. We deploy military resources to your country to provide humanitarian aid and assist with cleanup and recovery efforts in the aftermath of hurricanes. Ordinary Canadian citizens donate money from our own bank accounts to help American citizens in need.

And this is how you repay us: by electing a POTUS who is intent on destroying the very sovereignty of our nation. So yes: Canadians are hurt. And we are angry. Trump's obsession with trying to annex Canada is both absurd and vile. And quite frankly: anyone who cannot see this disgusts me.

I do not blame you for what is happening @f1shie . I do not blame any American who did their part to try to prevent this. But to anyone who still supports Donald Trump today: SHAME ON YOU! SHAME!

(Also: I am not a Christian. But I have read the Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, in their entirety, multiple times. Anyone who possesses even a modicum of understanding of those texts can plainly see that Trump would be anathema to Jesus. Jesus would be sick to his stomach to see his followers supporting Trump in his name.)

I want to also say, with all of the hate that's coming from the nation I unfortunately live in right now - This journal is a safe space for you. All races, creeds, sexualities, genders, are welcome here. The government may hate you for how you were born. I will not.
:heartsit:

I am so grateful for you @f1shie , and to everyone like you, who is still standing up and holding high the light of love and compassion in these dark times.
Stand strong, my friend. I still have faith that if we hold our lights high enough, and shine brightly enough, we will be able to light the way for those who have been led astray to see their way back to the path of compassion, cooperation, and love.

@Maegaranthelas Takes a lovely person to know a lovely person.

@Laura Rainbow Dragon You are the gentle breeze in the collective storm of our lives.

It really is just... Awful. Canada is our friend. The rest of the world should be our friends. We should all be friends. But unfortunately, egos and money have gotten in the way. And such things cannot go unchecked. I, as your American buddy, give you all full permission to roast us as much as you desire. Boycott our goods. Protest in the streets. We have it in our constitution that such freedoms are rights of Americans. But right now, those freedoms are being dragged through the mud. Therefore, go forth, my lovely bees, and do what you can.

I want to also say this - If you want to make an anti-fascist space, it is not enough to say you're just anti-fascist. You have to do some anti-fascist stuff, which may mean telling people to eff off. We need to make spaces for anyone, but not everyone. If you need help telling someone to hit the bricks, I'll be glad to assist you, as I am strangely good at that.

1,347 - Did 100 punches. I forgot I did the de-stress challenge ages ago (100 punches a day) before just like... Now. so I'll find another challenge that won't kill my left shoulder (I just punched with my right arm). I also did some walking today, had to go into town for a work errand.

737 - Few minutes in!

Good thing - Physical therapy is starting soon LET'S GOOOOOOOOO

Cooper status - fwuffy little buddy. He's telling me we could all use some more water to drink. And some more cuddle time. Have cuddle time.

I don't know about best, but for most unique, I had a friend say I have a cute nose once. ^_^
Oh HELL YEAH. I think the most unique one I've gotten was that I looked like I listen to Joji.

AND I DO.

1,351 - Shoveled and cleaned off the cars. "But Fish, I don't consider that a workout-" THEN DO IT FOR ME

741 - Did Recovery day 2 which was the 2 minutes of box breathing, and so I'm counting that.

Good thing - I'm not a Chiefs fan.

Cooper status - My mom is. Therefore Cooper will need to comfort her for... a while.

I think one of my favourite compliments is the amount of people who walk into my house for the first time and ask where the cat is.
I don't have any pets. But my style is so witchy that people assume there must be a cat somewhere :tears:

In their defense, some cats also think this and I am at risk of cute invasion if I leave my windows open :chuckle:

I guess one of my other favourite compliments is when people say they feel welcome and safe in my home.
This is what I strive for :morelove:

This is me too. And I am not a cat person. (I don't hate cats. I'm happy to share the planet with them. But I don't want one as a pet.) But cats refuse to believe this. Shelby does provide some protection from the issue. But pretty much every place I've lived where I did not have a dog there was a neighbour's cat who kept trying to move in with me.

742 - Few minutes in!

Good thing - My friend and I had the most life changing sushi tonight. I think they stacked everything in the food with pure serotonin. I can't explain it.

Cooper status - Cooper thinks Maeg should get a cat. He himself is very fond of cats, actually! And he is fond of you!

I did get a partner I can meow at and who meows back at me, does that count? :amused:
Unfortunately I don't think it would be a good idea to have a pet while I am living alone.
If I lived in a community with cool people, I would love to have pets together.
But now I do have a doggo brother I can visit whenever I like, and he's a big cutie! :lovely:

Oh, it really is! At least at first! I've been doing it a few times since it's part of the better sleep yoga. I will say, if you do it enough times, it becomes an amazingly good stretch for your back. <3

OoOo, what kinda chips did you get? I vote shrimp chips, though it's too late and I don't get a say anyways. XD

And perfect explanation, I think. Fluffy lil cute heads get kisses.

What if you did get a say? Like you just teleport to me buying stuff back in time and you just start beating the shit out of me for not buying shrimp chips.

Turtle chips - Not made out of actual turtles, it's a shape thing - But wait, can you go back in time and beat me up for something... s? Plural? I HAVE DATES JUST LET ME KNOW--

Or message me with what you're doing for PT and what you're supposed/not supposed to be doing right now, and I'll send you some suggestions.

I am so happy Mills is getting some love down there!
Because: holy shit does your country need more politicians like her!
I mean: everyone needs more politicians like her. But you guys especially do right now. Maybe if other politicians see her riding high on huge waves of public support for doing the right thing it might encourage them to grow a backbone and also start doing the right thing. I still have hope!
