Hi f1shy, here some advice that I would give myself when dealing with big changes in life (even though I find it can be hard to actually follow my own advice):
- regularly talk / write to someone about everything that is happening
- try to keep good things in mind (for ex. naming 3 good things each day, doing a little grattitude journal or trying to make a list of things to look forward to after the challenging phase)
- making lists of things I have to take care of (my bullet journal helps me with feeling more in control)
- take time for calming activities like being in nature, taking a short walk, taking some deep breaths at an open window, listening to some calm music, lying on my yoga mat and doing nothing

I hope that some of this is helpful for you too!

Goodnight all! Anyone got any advice for just mentally dealing with big changes like this? Not just for like, the physical moving but... the mental stuff, since I'm gonna have to really give away a lot of stuff I spent money on lmao
There is a fantastic Koan that has helped me throughout the years, after moving countries and leaving many things (and sometimes people) behind, often not by choice.

"While moving out of their family home of 30 years,a person asked their teacher, 'how do I let go of all these memories?'
The teacher picked up a dusty photo album and asked, 'Where are the memories in this book?', 'In my mind', answered the person.
'Then you're not letting go', he said, 'you are letting in'."

When I moved last year I thought I would have a really hard time downsizing all my stuff, but once I started digging through it all, it became clear I wasn't actually all that attached, or had no idea why I was still hanging on to a lot of it (I'm talking to you Shadow Hearts 2, you may be the greatest JRPG ever made, but I've no idea how I thought I'd get a PS2 game running without buying another PS2!), although admittedly I did still take too much with me.
My advice would be to just get stuck in with the clearing out and see how it goes, it may turn out to be nowhere near as bad as you think it will be.
Good point... Man though do I have a lot haha. Wanna come over and look through my yarn with me?

I do have a couple of my old PS2 games but they're sentimental af, I mostly wanna have a PS2 again when I have my own place (I WOULD NEVER FIND TALES OF LEGENDIA AGAIN IF I RELEASED IT)

Honestly lying on a yoga mat and doing nothing sounds... SO GOOD RIGHT NOW. I don't have my yoga mat in my room rn but dude...

I may have to make that list for sure, I'm really bad at looking forward to things. Thanks dear!

Given how we have lived in this house for 34 years, this... ... Oh I need to think about this one.

Thank you all so much for this, by the way. I'll definitely follow this. I got another bin done today.

At besties until Sunday, then spending Sunday night + Monday cleaning and packing. This still honestly does not feel real, though. That house was a great place to grow up. Now I need to confront my packrat tendencies and... Ahahaha. I need a hug.

Also fluff boy lov u <3
All the hugs (I'm a bit late)

Alright, been slacking on packing but we gotta do more tomorrow. LET'S GET MOTIVATED.

But first. Sleep.

Also Cooper went to a compliance meeting today for mom and dad's work. He was a very good boy the whole time and he got a bunch of treats from people, and greeted people warmly by gently snooting their arms.
