My recovery is going well I think. Ups and downs, while doing a tad too much and then have a set back for a few inches, but overall it is going forward. Today the first day without any pain meds. Yesterday was my last day of antibiotics. I can take care of our daughter during the day, which makes me really happy.
It is all I can expect in this stage, though I wish it to be more, it's not realistic to ask for more.
Step by step.
Women really need to remember that childbirth, however it happens, is major trauma to the body. You lose, what, about 25% of your blood supply, your hormones are all over the place, all sorts of things are happening. Take it easy!
On Friday we got the 'go' to take our daughter out. She exceeded her birth weight, so she's growing well . We went into the city to get ice cream, but that was a little bit far for me (1.5 km total), so the past days we walked to the riverside for a drink and pie (600 m total), and that goes okay. Walking is unpleasant for my belly, but afterwards I actually have less pain, and mentally it lifts me up! I feel trapped and it is a challenge mentally, especially with the beautiful weather we have. So it's really nice to be able to go out a bit.
Last week was literally ups and downs. Monday and Tuesday were excellent, I could walk more and had almost no pain. After Wednesday it went downward. I think because of lifting her more because of bowel cramps. Now I'm back to trying to do as little as possible and a friend I reached out to moved my whole network to get a schedule of helping me out the coming week . I really am so grateful and moved that everyone is so sweet. Hopefully with the extra support I can move forward again.
The week has been tough, but since the weekend I'm getting better and better. I am taking walks again, up to 2 km and no set backs yet. This gives me hope .
On Friday I have an appointment with the baby-doctor, it's 1.6 km and I am not allowed to drive yet. So that'll be walking, or asking for a ride. If my body/(lack of) pain will stay the same, I'll be able to walk .
I managed to walk to the appointment and back . No major set backs.
I've been walking everyday, my shortest was 800 meters, the longest 2x1.6 km. I had a total of 14 km in a week.
On Tuesday I have an appointment at the physiotherapist, to see if I'm allowed to join their birth-recovery program. If it's a go, I'll start on Thursday.
Today I tried the baby carrier, and it went well. So I'll practice that one also, to be able to go back into the woods carrying my >4 kg baby.
