Hi, @Francesco! :hello:

You absolutely can use any weights you like, including a weighted backpack.
When it comes to weight, it's best to start with lighter weights and gradually increase them as you get used to the exercises. The weights should be light enough to do the exercises comfortably and feeling the resistance, but not so light that you feel like you're not using enough weight.
For the maximum weight it is up to you and your preferences, just remember not to overwork your muscles as it can cause more tiredness and lesser growth.

I used to pack a sandbag in my backpack for rucking. Like @Antheia & Colossus suggests, don't go too heavy at first. My sandbag weighed 20kg. To start with, you can add 2.5-5 kg of weights (just a suggestion), and once you've reached a certain number of reps, you can add more weight. What exercises do you intend to do with them?

I have done the recruit workout with a weighted backpack (10 Kg), 5 sets and rest 1 minute between

hello heavy backpack people!

I started rucking earlier this year (September). I LOVE IT.... God knows why.... As if carrying a weight gave me a sense of purpose. Or something.

I think the most important things, based on my experience is:

1) the backpack must have the straps at the hips and upper torso for proper posture
2) don't start too heavy - I started with an empty backpack and walking normally. I added 1-2 lbs per week. You will feel it. It feels easy. And the next day you are sore all over, a good kind of sore :imp:

Perhaps for specific bodyweight exercises, you would rather have a weighted vest, which has the weight spread front and back. I did not want to buy that specific piece of equipment so I use a regular camping/hiking backpack with dumbbells in there. I only walk with this so far, no specific workouts with that (yet!)
