calisthenics or weights ?

One of my faves is lay on your back, have the hands overhead on the floor, you can hold light 5lb dumbbells, with control bring the legs up and over till they touch the hands, repeat 15 times. I do this as well as other core exercises.

What I did in my younger daze was leg lifts with a 30lb dumbbell held by me feet, I used a towel for padding across the ankles, a 50lb BB plate so I wouldn't tilt up and lift that thing 90° 2 sets of 30 and with that DB still at me feet, hold a 35lb DB behind me neck for 2 sets of 30. Did this once a week and them abs get rock hard, really hard.
