Busy days, but the good kind of busy. Or mostly the good kind. I wouldn't mind if I could allow myself to work less and drop my side hustle. But even with two jobs, I barely earn more than the median income in Hungary. And that's about half as much as the average median income in the EU... *insert rant about our corrupt previous government*.

Tabletop RPG evening: Vaesen this time.

Friday, May 22

This evening was for a birthday celebration of a friend. Nothing fancy, just meeting up in a pub to have some drinks. This was a more... traditional pub than the ones I prefer, by which I mean that the ladies at the bar would clearly have preferred if I just asked for shots of pálinka like the regular guests do instead of requiring them to dig up the ingredients of my chosen cocktail for the night.

Sunday, May 24

Office day + my first driving lesson! It was like an average first driving lesson. I didn't feel how much I was steering the car, I didn't feel at which point the clutch engaged, and I couldn't focus on everything I was supposed to focus on. But I didn't expect anything else, and my instructor is super nice and patient, so I have faith that I'll get the hang of it soon.

Friday, May 29

I finally had a calm weekend, at home, alone, only the cat demanded my attention from time to time. On Saturday I did quite a bit of strength work. I don't have my notes for that day anymore, but there were mostly pull-ups, abs, and a little bit of lower body. And then, by the evening, I came down with a cold. It was lucky that I could afford spending the entire Sunday resting. My immune system must have been grateful for that, because I barely have any symptoms now. Though, after a busy Monday, it feels as if my body couldn't decide whether to raise its temperature or not. I hope I won't have fever at night: the worst part of it is not being able to hug my husband if I wake up in the middle of the night, because he feels too cold. :imp:

Please do, @PetiteSheWolf !!

I didn't have fever in the end, but I did have a cold for a few days. I didn't mind the excuse from socializing.
Yesterday was tiring: a lot of work, two hours worth of driving lesson (only my second one, because my instructor's life is a big pile of chaos. This time we temporarily switched to automatic transmission to give me time to get used to the traffic and to maneuvering the car, but in exchange for removing the difficulty of switching gears, my instructor took me to some trickier routes), then continuing work, then getting home and working some more on my side job. My mind couldn't really find rest at night, and today I'm barely functioning. Lucky that I have quite a bit of overtime in my time bank at work, so I can afford slacking off a bit today. Which I'm doing right now, in the middle of the day. Hence no notes of my workouts, as I can't access them right now. Well, I could if I really wanted, but there's not that much there anyway.

Wednesday, 10 June

Before breakfast
-- Bedtime Glutes
-- Day 56 of Daily Dips
-- Day 7 of Perfect Balance | lvl I
-- Day 8 of Perfect Balance | lvl III
-- Day 21 of Pull-Up

I don't think I'll do any other workouts today. I'll be home this evening, and I don't have any open tasks for my side job either. It's so rare that I don't  have to do anything (or at least not urgently) that I try to cherish it until the next round of deadlines kick in.

And a question to you: if you found yourself at a small con-like event or faire where you had to listen to a 30-minute presentation related to Tolkien and his works, what topic would you like to hear about? I have trouble deciding what to prepare, and I don't trust that what I'm personally interested in will be fun for the visitors, too. I mean, those 7 people who listened to my 90-minute deep dive on the relations between the different cultures of Men in Middle-earth seemed to enjoy it back in March, but they were much more invested in the lore than what can be expected of my next audience.

I've always been fascinated by Tolkien's linguistic abilities. The languages and written forms of them are amazing. Did he get his inspiration from any known languages? Is there a pronunciation guide somewhere?
