A field full of grote kattenstaart in the dunes. Literal translation: large cat's tail, English name: purple loosestrife. That's a weird name, loosestrife. If anyone has any idea (or a wild guess) about the etymology ....

We’re in Danmark. We had some heavy traffic, we arrived a few hours later than planned. The kitchen of the restaurant at our hotel was closed already, but one of the guys provided us with coffee and a large plate of great bread and lovely cheeses. Nice!

We’re still in Denmark. Visited Odense, which is quite boring if you’re not that much into Hans Christian Andersen. We’re staying in Copenhagen now, a lovely city, as far from boring as can be.

The contraption in the picture is called a tebirkes and now that you know, the best you can do for yourself is forget what it is, what it looks like and never look up the recipe or visit a Danish bakery.

@Gandhalfit Autocorrect :oops: It does weird things sometimes. You’re right about the summers, they’re not that hot in Denmark. I guess they do have their occasional heatwave, but usually the summer temperature is just right for me.

.... and I'm back!

The good bit: I've continued my streak and I'm now at 1293 continuous days of exercise. The not so good bit: the past year hasn't been a very good year, mental health wise. I'm prone to periods of depression and looking back now, this was a bad one. I'm still not completely well but I'm on my way back. I was thrown off balance by a combination of work related and at home stuff. A few days ago I was looking what my phone has registered as my sleeping hours: my average is 6 hours per night for a period of at least 2 years. That's not what I want and it's not what I need. So I'm going to work on that.

A lot of parasol mushrooms today, an easy recognisable and very big mushroom. I saw a few with 30 cm diameter caps and they can get even bigger.

@NancyTree Thanks! Holding on to the streak is has become an extra motivation. I’d be so displeased with myself if I’d had to start all over again.

@Anek That’s not a very complicated preparation … I’ll be on the lookout for mushrooms outside the nature reserve (it’s not allowed to pick anything there) and I’ll report back when I’ve tried them.
