"Step by step in all things"
Hello fellow bees!
Here's to keeping track of rebuilding my body after two years of it nop'ing out of physical prowess until I finally went under the knife this January. I'm slowly recovering and recently got my surgeon's blessing to train again (softly, and no burpees before a while).

I was a bee in the previous hive and can't remember for the life of me the list of what I did and wanted to do, so... I guess I'll just re-start from the beginning, there's always pleasure in earning the same achievement twice.

Edit end of April 2024 info:
Currently on Fondation light and Arms of Steel programs, with mobility extras.
I weight 47kg for 1654mm (34yo). Muscle mass is low but sustains a somewhat active life.
Body events: Invasive operation in January '24 with complications.
Left knee status: Cracks on almost all movements. Tired after thirty minutes of light workout (improved since last month!)

Current goals:
  • Complete 5 programs (Recovery, Square One, Foundation Light, Arms of Steel, ???)
  • Reach a 60-day streak
  • Sustain an hour of workout without breaking down
  • Complete a fantasy/roleplaying program
  • Reach a body weight of 50kg
Completed goals:
  • Reach a 30-day streak (April 17th 2024)
  • Reach a 15-day streak (April 2nd 2024)
  • Start daily exercise again (March 19th 2024)
Wishing you a great day!

Kickstarting... Day 1

RECOVERY (program), Day 1/15

I had forgotten how boring and painful arm holds could be. When I breathe there is a raspy crr crr in my chest, and quite interestingly I make the same sound with my bones when I turn my neck.

Day 2

RECOVERY (program), Day 2/15
SQUARE ONE (program, Day 1/30

Combining the two programs to have a soft "let's do this" start, then an exercise that makes me feel like my body is working out (a bit).
I think of the summer and the last time I went dancing.

Day 4

RECOVERY (program), Day 4/15
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 3/30

Additional: mobility training, knee-to-ground twist stretching 12x3

Since today was stretching for both programs I added a short series of mobility training.
I will probably keep adding them and randomizing to keep the ADD satisfied.

Day 5

RECOVERY (program), Day 5/15
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 4/30

Additional: mobility training, knee-to-ground twist stretching 12x3

My phone training alarm didn't ring today, so I panic-jumped into training at 11pm like the winner that I am /sarcasm
Tomorrow I have a hike planned with friends, the first in... years? A bit afraid but excited for sure.

Day 6 (yesterday)
Outside: 6h of hiking through sandstone hills and sand :yas:

I couldn't update right away because we got home late and everything hurts but I'm so proud of myself!!
Also updated the initial post to reflect my personal goals and status.

Day 7, One week!!

RECOVERY (program), Day 6/15
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 5/30

So lucky that today's exercises are on arms and breathing, my legs are currently made of jelly. The feeling makes me so happy, I missed it haha
No alt as I can't do mobility right now.

We checked our stats for yesterday, and it was a 12 kms hike with boulder hills going between 20 and 75 meters!
:vibes:

Edit breaking news: My partner is coming back home tonight from his business trip! (We were not sure when he'd be able to.) I've set phone and calendar alarms to keep working out every day and hopefully won't feel too shy to train when he's in the house. It's one thing to wheeze alone and another to do it with someone who can hear you~~
I'll put on music, worst case I'll opt for something he can't resist dancing to as a distraction :hoppy:

Day 8

RECOVERY (program), Day 7/15
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 6/30

No alt as I can't do mobility right now.

A good day, I panicked a bit when I realised my evening plans would likely prevent me from training. I squeezed both programs before taking my train and arrived late at my meeting, only for the other person to be even more late. Safe!
The hip twists were too numerous and made my head spin. Felt like throwing up for a good hour :phew:

I finally sent my pictures of the hike to the others, here's my favourite:
(This is from the end, when the terrain of sandstone boulders finally opened on a downward trail.)

Day 9 (yesterday)

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 1/30
RECOVERY (program), Day 8/15, halfway done!
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 7/30, first week!

No alt as I can't do mobility right now. Planning to try again on day 10.

New fact learned about myself: I have sensory issues with water in the morning. That one glass took a good twenty minutes to finish haha
I almost skipped training because when the time to exercise came so did a door-to-door farmer. So now I have 28 kilos of carrots.

Day 10

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 2/30
RECOVERY (program), Day 9/15
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 8/30

Additional: mobility training, knee-to-ground twist stretching 12x3

Drinking the glass in a single go then wolfing down food is better sensory-wise.
Having the boyfriend at home did mess up my schedule but daily training is still a thing and I started doing mobility exercises again. Dopamine is low...

Day 11

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 3/30
RECOVERY (program), Day 10/15
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 9/30

Additional: None, did not have the time.

Deadline day for work, I trained before lunch - fighting the lack of stimulus is hard but the pride at the end of the exercise is nice and keeps me going.
Finally tried one of the carrots from the other day and it's the sweetest I've ever eaten, so worth it!
I have another hike planned for tomorrow, softer and shorter than last time because we have plans for some Cthulhu roleplay afterwards

Day 12 (yesterday)

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 4/30
Outside: 3h of hiking through swamp forest (a decent amount of rivulet jumping)

One of my friends has a shiba dog who adores hikes, so I'll try to nudge the guy into making this a regular and perhaps weekly occurrence.
We played some Call of Cthulhu after, it was a nice way to unwind

RECOVERY (program), Day 11/15
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 10/30

Additional: mobility training, knee-to-ground twist stretching 12x3

OOF the leg raise exercises aligning on both programs on the same day. My thighs hurt but I managed to do it without break.
I think the mobility might be too high level for me, which is frustrating as I used to be able to do it as a basic warmup. I break a nice sweat tho!

Day 14 (yesterday)

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 6/30

Additional: quick stretching session after walking for most of the day, it's not much but I did something despite being in the physical state of a wet carpet so I'm satisfied

Day 15

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 7/30 (one week!)
RECOVERY (program), Day 12/15
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 11/30

Additional: none

The room where I train isn't large enough for me to fully stretch on the floor, I was patting the walls haha
The hike might become a weekly thing or at least something regular, I'm happy

Day 16 (I JUST REALIZED I GOT THE 15-DAYS ACHIEVEMENT I was too focused on not breaking the streak haha)

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 8/30
RECOVERY (program), Day 13/15
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 12/30

Additional: none

Took me about a week to get used to it but drinking water after waking up doesn't give me much issue now, I just power through the discomfort.
Hike confirmed for this Sunday! The weather is excellent, I trained with the windows open. I'm looking forward to the weekend leg pain now :expecting:

RECOVERY (program), Day 14/15 (almost done!)
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 13/30

I'm looking forward to picking a new workout as a sequel to Recovery. Square One really hit today with its full focus on legs.
Tonight I'll try and cook some additional kilos from the carrots pile. It's neverending and it frightens me :phew:
(they taste amazing tho)

RECOVERY (program), Day 15/15 DONE!
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 14/30

First program done! My entire body is shaking haha
I don't know what I'll pick next, maybe cardio ? Or something for general strength. I still fall from time to time but this is nice

Thank you @Anek , @HellYeah (this avatar tho), @Fremen , @GentleOx ! Appreciate it

Day 19

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 10/30
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 15/30 (halfway there!)
FOUNDATION LIGHT (program), Day 1/30 (new program!)

Additional: none

I picked Foundation Light, don't want to overwhelm myself with something suddenly harder. Two programs at once is a good challenge right now.
Today one of my hike-mates is coming to help prep the mountain of carrots, I'll make us ginger chicken curry. And tomorrow we hike!

Day 20 (yesterday)

Outside: 4-5h hike in forest, 10-11km, 30 to 137m altitude with rocky paths and some rock stairs

What a lovely hike! The whole group (two friends, a dog, myself) got visibly better at, well, walking.
We discovered hidden stone structures covered in overgrown vegetation, including an aqueduct, a well, buried paths and an unmarked cross.

Day 21 (three weeks!)

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 10/30 (forgot TT)
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 16/30
FOUNDATION LIGHT (program), Day 2/30 (replaced wall squats with normal squats)

Additional: mobility training, knee-to-ground twist stretching 12x3

I wanted to stop after the two programs but I was starting to break a sweat and the music was hyping me up so...
Now I'm a puddle haha

Day 22

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 10/30 (was not at home, this is so hard)
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 17/30
FOUNDATION LIGHT (program), Day 3/30

Additional: none

Wrestled a friend for a couple of hours yesterday! I lost, but it felt nice to see I still have some reflexes and that, to my surprise, my legs are still quite strong. I was a bit too hard on myself comparing them to their peak power. This was very satisfying.

FIRST THING WATER (challenge), Day 11/30 I REMEMBERED!
SQUARE ONE (program), Day 18/30
FOUNDATION LIGHT (program), Day 4/30

Additional: none

Hike planned for this Sunday! It's my turn to choose where this will be, I'm considering something a bit mean but don't want to regret it afterwards haha
Today's workout was nice, I didn't break a sweat but it was painful on the legs so I didn't push for more.

I need to start looking into my diet a bit more, I think I'm reaching the point where I'm consistently exercising and can start solidifying the life ecosystem around the exercise, bit by bit.

Outside: hike day! 12kms, 5 hours, 141m

Sun was up and the weather was still fresh, we had a great hike and while now we're all complaining about our knees, it was AMAZING to compare this walk to the first one. The physical shape of the group (including the dog's!) is ramping up :yas:

Sorry for the three pics, could not pick a clear winner between the rocky path, the top of the hill view, and the weirdly symmetrical path back to the car with Sam for scale (yes his name is a LOTR reference).

Rode a scooter as a passenger and my neck is killing me now, which motivated me to exercise more today. Muscle pain = less attention span for other types of pain, apparently. Is this gym math?

The satisfaction is out of this world. Not having my body interrupt my routines is such an alien and gratifying sensation. Risking the operation was worth it.
