Phew. It has been a day. I've now got a sore throat and a small cough, but otherwise I'm okay. Class was expedited today, so I got out early and I got the homework done pretty quickly. They wanted to give us extra time to do the extra two homeworks they gave us tonight in addition to all the remaining long term assignments. I've only got the presentation left of the long terms left!

Then there's M's dad. All I know right now is that he's getting moved to a hospice care tomorrow or Thursday. I don't have all the details that led to this decision, but this does mean that he is getting taken off dialysis. Sooo, yeah. I can't miss class without serious repercussions from work, so we'll be going down Friday after I get out of class so that we can get some time in with him. Hopefully M will talk to his brother later and get the full story. (he talked to his mother earlier and she is notorious for both giving too much and yet not enough information at the same time.) M says that his dad was really out of it and saying nonsensical things when he visited him last weekend.

I will probably be back round for a Gaming Microworkout later. Now to go drink more tea! :drink:

Still not at 100%, this cough is hanging in there and just creating havoc. I didn't sleep great and had brain fog most of the morning. I also found out that my presentation is tomorrow morning and not Friday :freak:, so I had to hurry through building my PowerPoint this evening. :type: At least its ready, even if I'm anxious if I have enough to talk about. Also thought I would make a little more of a gaming microworkout, but all I did was find a new bug. Oh well, reported it and going to go do other things for a while. I've got plenty of side quests to work on.

Okay, I've got some bad news. M's dad passed away late this afternoon. So, yeah, umm. I'll probably be around, because I need the normality of doing a workout. I feel weird, we did a lot of grieving back in December, so we knew it was coming, but it's like I don't know how to feel. I know it's just going to hit me later, but yeah.

I just want to say, I love you Bees. Keep being your awesome selves.

Dear Syrius, I am so sorry for your and your family's loss.

I don't know how to feel.
This is perfectly normal.

I lost both of my paternal grandparents and my father to extended illnesses that were obviously terminal. You do start the grieving process while the person is still alive under these circumstances. Then the moment of death comes, and you don't feel grief the way it looks at funerals or is presented in books or on TV. And that feels weird. But it is normal and healthy.

I hope that you and M and the family can all hold space for yourselves and for one another to feel whatever it is that you are feeling now and in the coming weeks and months, and trust that you are exactly where you need to be in your own grieving process.

Thank you everyone for your kindness. I can't begin to express how much it means to me. :sadness:

@Laura Rainbow Dragon Thank so much, I really needed to hear that it was normal. My only other experience with family member loss has been family pets and my paternal grandfather. We lost him suddenly and I took an exam that same day and went to work before it all hit me and I finally cried it out.

I slept terrible because my cold got worse and we stayed up late talking. Today I have been a wretched sneeze monster.

I again was a sneeze monster, so much sneezing. But it and the coughing finally started clearing up in the evening. Still alive, still kicking. Went to the funeral home in the morning, got almost everything figured out, then drove all the way back home. Took a long nap in the afternoon, had a hard time falling asleep because of it. Still feel emotionally drained, but that is okay.

Everything got a little out of hand this afternoon. Oh well, that's okay. I've had a headache (probably is a migraine) for the past three days. Hopefully all the tea, water, and electrolytes I had today with some sleep tonight will help knock it out of my system along with the rest of these sniffles.
